Hopkins was crafty, a better in-fighter, and had a better chin than Tommy.

Hearns was so difficult to deal with from the outside with his jab, range, and boxing skills, so Hagler had to be more aggressive than usual. Hopkins is a different type of fighter than Hearns.

A couple things that bode well for Hopkins are his experience/success against lefties and I think his mind games. Leonard messed with Hagler's head, I wonder how Hopkins would do with his psychological warfare and using his convict experience to mess with his head.

Both Hagler and Hopkins were versatile. Hopkins was a little quicker and slicker, although Hagler's parrying defense was pretty effective. Hopkins has a good chin but probably not quite up to Hagler (very few are). Hagler had heavier-hands. I think while both guys could box and trade, Hagler showed a little more in his ability to brawl against Hearns and the latter rounds against Mugabi than I ever saw Hopkins in that particular area. I mean Hearns, even at 160, could crack with that right and Mugabi was a powerful guy, but Hagler took them and beat them up anyway.

Leonards mind games were different because the Leonard was big to Hagler because of money and more importantly he wanted the respect he deserved and felt he wasn't getting from Leonard and everybody else. He felt the only way to get that respect was to get was to fight Leonard and win. With BHOP he likes to challenge people as a man that comes from him being in jail. Hagler was a man so I don't think he could get into Haglers head from a standpoint of challenging Hagler's manhood.

A little hyperbole on my part. I got a liitle carried away. Prime Roy could give anybody a tough fight. But I see Hagler tracking him down and putting a hurting on Roy. B-Hop would see all his little tricks and tatics go by the way side as soon as he hit Hagler... and all Hagler would do is smile.

Hopkins is a smart fighter. He knows Hagler can take a great shot and is very unlikely to be in there winging right hands looking for the KO, like he did when he was younger. He might use a lot of boring stink tactics up close, tying the arm up and hitting with the other hand, etc...

I wonder how Hagler would approach the fight. His usual patient boxer-puncher style, or the slugger who fought Hearns?

Both SRR and RJj beat Hagler IMO. I love Hagler and he was my idol growing up...met him etc etc. He wasnt the best.

For the record...I had Hagler beating SRL 115-113.

Marvin whips all of these so called champs today...from B-Hop,RJJ,Winky...and don't even mention Taylor in the same sentence.

He could even go up a few pounds and kick Calzone's ass....

Hagler was a great fighter,.... the best though i just cant give him that billing, he lost to SRL a former WW champ, i honestly believe that had Hearns not broke his hand in the Hagler fight he would have pulled the win off too, also i look at fighters like Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney in there primes and at the MW ranks and dont know if Hagler could get a hold of Jones or figure out Toney and think he would have ultimatley been outclassed by Roy and outworked by Toney!

I see a stalking Hagler against B-Hop. I'm not hating on RJJ or B-Hop. It's more of an a appreciation of Hagler is all.

James Toney would not have outworked Hagler at MW and I know James was more active at MW than what he has been these past few years.
Damn that would have been a great great great fight between Hagler and Toney. I wouldn't bet any money on that fight.
