And during that time period he was unbelieveable. Could he have tested himself some more & went up against stiffer opposition? Of course. But there's no denying that he is an ATG.
This is funny because this is a very late reply. What I wanted to say is Roy fought bums. he was a talented fighter but as we all know! If u dont fight greats u wont gain any experience that would make u a better boxer. Then roy has the nerve to say *No I didn't fight bums. I just made them look bad*

Are you serious? No disrespect to you but did you just start watching boxing? For you to even say something like this shows you don't know that much. If you want to know just how good he was make a thread asking The Iceman John Scully who good he was from the amateurs up. Also ask him about Roy's comp & see what response you'll get.

Yes I am serious. Like I said b4 he was a waste. Most of his fights went PPV for what reason??? he wasn't fighting anybody.

The reason was he was the baddest man in boxing ever. If they build it they will come. He did things that werent done in boxing in 106 years...if YOU dont know I certainly wont tell.

Watch his Ams fights. C-Drone is trying to say Roy never had talent just speed and reflexes...no chin too....phooey. RJj was a virtuoso. He trained every day from the age of 7...you dont have speed and reflexes @ 7.

He did things that arent boxing 101 like Ali did [lean back]...but they trained so much and were so good that they could use those things against other fighters because their skill levels were so high.

In the end there will always be haters...when your the baddest man on the planet of course the meek will mill around the trough and crow far into the night about how 'they' think you suck. RJj never had a chin...ok. A jr mid going to the HW's and winning the belt dont have a chin...sure...I'll by that...pencil me in for a bridge too while I'm @ it.

This got a little off topic but for what it's worth, I wouldn't say Hopkins ducked Jones, more that two hard headed, do it my way kind of guys wouldn't budge.

              Roy certainly didn't duck Bernard...

I never said that Roy Jones didn't have talent. At all. That would be a lie. I said, he wasn't the most talented BOXER. That's all I said. For example...

If I bowl.. and I roll the ball with incredible power, I COULD knock over the pisn based on sheer force. Now, once my power diminishes, I'll need more of a BOWLING technique. If I lack that particular BOWLING skill, I'll make much less strikes. It still takes talent to throw that hard, and that down the middle, BUT the fundamentals aren't really in play.

Point is.. He had INCREDIBLE athleticism, GREAT speed, WONDERFUL power, UNEARTHLY reflexes. In terms of STRAIGHT boxing fundamentals, he lacked. That's all I said. Not that big of a deal, really. He got pretty far with it.

Its Margarito getting choked out by Dave Chappelles character Tron from the Bad Real World. If you check the "They Look Similiar" thread you'll see my comparison to Williams prefight Margy and Chappelle as Tron.

                      1. How do you think he got that athletic ability?
Started training since the age of 7...might even be 5. Train anything every day and you git nasty @ it. What did he train again? Boxing...ok...cuz I know you have a hard time counting and stuff.

                      2. If RJj started boxing as a quasi-toddler, then explain how he got so nasty?
5-7 year olds are not blessed w/athletic ability. Its fact...he ahd the same chances as we all did. Your saying I guy that trains every day, Dad fought Hagler, didint pick up boxing fundamentals along the way? Dude he fought in the olympics and had no boxing fundamentals?

Have you ever trained or fought? Interested. If so, how long?

Ask any trainer in the biz about Ali's lean back [his dum ass daughter even discredited it]. They all say itsa mistake. Would you say Ali doesnt have boxing fundamentals?

Ali and RJj were on very high levels of boxing. Just cuz they did things others would quote as "mistake" doesnt mean its so. Virtuoso's all do unorthodox things cuz they mastered said art...now once you master said art...whats left to master? Magic...thats what. Defy the odds.

You also **** on his chin. Guy...have you seen any Jones fights? You dont git by Sosa, Brannon, Bhop, Toney, Hill, McCallum, Ruiz w/out a chin. If he didnt have a chin how come he never ever ever showed a single sign of it before Tarver II? Please explain...its IMPOSSIBLE....so hence there must be others external factors as to why. Please dont start some **** about roids making you tougher either. Nerve damage via muscular atrophy sounds more believable to anyone w/a IQ over 75.

I dont understand why I have to repeat it. I read a study on animals memory retension and it said that things humans can pick up in 1-3x animals...e.g.: cats, dogs, need about 14x for it to settle in. WTF

It is a big deal cuz its FALSE and yousa hater. Give the guy full credit for chissakes. You diss RJj you diss boxing and ultimately yourself.
