the man was never a super skilled boxer.. just an exciting warrior with alot of heart that packs a punch.. when he was so behind on so many fights he made amazing comebacks.. and he held the ibf at super feather and wbc ad light welter.. Won fight of the year on numerous occasions.. not the most skilled technical boxer thats for sure.. but the guy had an exciting career, has nothing to feel bad about.. Dont hate on Gatti.

Dios u just sound bitter man. Talking to u before and seeing u post now u sound like a bitter PBF fan who complains and doesnt know why a guy like Gatti can amass more fans and die hards than PBF. The bottom line is Gatti is a blue collar fighter given limited skills but exceptional power. And with that he was an over acheiver and nvr ducked the best opposition and always fought with tremendous heart and left it all in the ring.

Ur post parallels PBF's post Baldy fight press conference when he cried asking why nobody likes him and gives him respect, maybe if he fought with the courage of Arturo he wouldnt need to cry, and the sooner u realize that the sooner u can stop crying too

no they dont. Honestly if your a professional fighter and you win a title, you have some sort of skill. Do you box? cause if you do you should envy anyone who's able to win a title or are you some sort of internet warrior who thinks that one loss makes you trash

gatti's not undeserving. he worked hard, made millions of dollars and fans, gave boxing some of the best fights in recent memory and one of the greatest trilogies with ward.

give credit where credit is due. with what skill he had, he gave a lot to the sport. he wasnt a great fighter, but he did great things.

Not everyone in the hall of fame has to have a flawless record and have beaten the best...There will never be another Arturo Gatti and in my opinion what he did for the sport is enough to get him in the hof
I respectfully disagree with that. OSCAR DELAHOYA was BY FAR a more popular fighter than Gatti. If anything, Oscar and Tito and Roy galvanized the fans in the late 90s.

Gatti, in truth, is a regional fighter. Much like Cotto. He does solid-but-unspectacular nums when he appears on HBO. Gatti has been on ONE PPV, and that was with Mayweather (who has since shown that he can carry a card).

Gatti sells Boardwalk Hall. There's a reason that he doesn't fight much away from there.

Why are you using different criteria for Gatti than you would use for anyone else?

It was a great , exciting trilogy. WITH MICKY FRIGGIN' WARD. In many ways, that is more an indictment than a compliment.

In my opinion a hall of fame should be a celebration of the sport, not a slavish addiction to statistical analysis of careers.

im saying what he did, not why he should get in. remember i said CONTRIBUTIONS. besides, thats more than what most fighters today contribute. *cough* mayweather *cough*

so, its micky ward. what have you got against him? who cares who gatti fought with? it was three great fights. stop nitpicking.

Pretty much like others here said- I understand why someone would suggest Gatti should not be in the hall of fame but don't antagonize those fans that miss him. He gave his all and bled, going into the ring willing to die - a real fighter. We need more of his kind...despite how much skill he himself had, his attitude matched those of the greats.

Ummm, you are seriously mistaken. But good attempt.

We weren't comparing Gatti's fanbase and revenues to PBF's, but since you have:

                      1) Gatti's only PPV and biggest payday was vs Mayweather.
                      2) Mayweather was making "Gatti money" (more, actually) for fighting guys like Bruseles. $3+ mil each for Bruseles and Sharmba.
                      3) PBF made $6+ mil for Judah, $10+ mil for Baldomir and $25 mil for Delahoya. Fans pay the fighters. SOMEBODY IS PAYING TO WATCH PBF FIGHT.
That is simply a factual accounting. Given your forum name, I'm not going to expect objectivity from you. Cool?
