Is Cintron A Punk For Fighting Feliciano?

My problem with this is that Cintron has a belt. He just made his mandatory defense against Matthysse so now he gets an optional one. Instead, he chooses to fight a bum instead of signing for a fight with Margarito in the fall, even though he claims in his latest interview with boxingscene that he wants Margarito. But after Feliciano, he has to fight his mandatory, whoever that is. So I think it's a chicken**** move by Cintron personally.

he doesn't have to face his mandatory until this time next year. its not one mandatory and then one optional with them alternating. its one mandatory in a 12 month period and as many optionals they can fit in in that timeframe. He still has an optional. Plus who is his mandatory now?

I keep expecting Mosley to fight a guy like Cintron. Kermit has a belt, so it would be a chance for Shane to capture a piece of the welterweight crown, and I'm sure as confident as Mosley is he would believe it a fight he could win. Cintron would be a solid opponent but not a possibly deadly, top dog- like Cotto is. It seems the rumblings of a Cintron-Mosley fight always crop up, then grow quiet quickly. If Shane is really fighting Cotto I don't know who else, in terms of big names, Cintron would fight. I suppose it would be nice to see him take on Paul Williams. Why not? Unification in any division smells good to me.

there was talks of Mosely fighting Cintron but Mosely choose Luis Callazo.

this is just cintron just keeping busy until the next big fight comes along..

nothing wrong with getting into the ring to stay busy and work on some stuff against a tough, durable guy; at the same time get paid. not every fight has to be a huge step up or a step up at all.

i'd rather see a fighter stay busy than take 6 months to a year off trying to land a big fight, especially a belt holder. then after that long wait they lose or look terrible, like margarito did or chris byrd did, a lot of fighters have done it and they've paid for it too.

staying busy fighting lower A level fighters or B level guys, durable guys is better than not fighting period.

back in the good old days of boxing, guys fought all the time, they fought as often as possible and when done right they were better for it. some guys did it too much and they paid for it, but i don't think that it is bad for cintron to be fighting feliciano, it is a fight that should make cintron look exciting and give him a bit of a workout to keep him sharp( especially having only fought a round and a half last fight. staying active is very over looked in boxing now a days, i think everybody is one or both things, either we're softer now a days or we're trying to get more than it's worth by holding out for bigger paydays...........both are sad.........
