p4p type heavyweights = Tyson, Holyfield, Clay. Their weight and size was clearly not a factor in their greatness. Tyson was not big but had imposing speed and strength. Holyfield was always outpowered and undersized but won with unmatchable heart and boxing savy. Clay had a nice combo of sting, speed, and boxing skills.

Thats a big difference from heavyweights like Lewis, Wlad, Foreman, Vitali who there size was a major factor to their success.

And yes a heavyweight can be P4P No.1 even though the mythical division was created to rank the best fighters outside of heavyweights.

Nowadays the P4P ranks are based on resumes, performances and domination of one/several weight divisions.

So if a heavyweight in a decent era fought all the other top heavyweights and dominated he could be considered P4P No.1.

Also, P4P is about your weight not being a factor so big heavyweights who use their size to win fights, ala Valuev, can't be included.

Heavyweights who use boxing skill/power to beat opponents and not size could be considered P4P No.1. Some examples of this are Ali, Wlad and Tyson.

Interesting thread - Shouldn't Wlad be in the top 10-20 p4p now then, given his victories over Byrd and Peter plus solid wins over Brock, Mercer and Brewster.

he has 3 defeats but they are good wins, most of them in convincing fashion.

lol that's like saying whichever strawweight knocks out all the others should be p4p #1. heavyweights are a joke. do you call the least dorky out of a bunch of nerds a cool kid? no ****in way.

Make it simple any fighter in any weight class can be crowned p4p number 1

if we have four champions at welterweight (which we do currently) who dont do anything but fight contenders and madatories (like they do currently) instead of fighting each other, what do we have? just a pool of talented fighters who go their own way and try to line their pockets instead of cement their legacy.

if we have four champions at HW (see above) who actually fight each other, and actually TRY to unify the titles and if one does (wlad most likely), and does so by knocking them out (which wlad is perfectly capable of doing), what do we have? a HW who has a legitimate claim to the p4p title.

if lewis could do it (which he did), so can wlad.

I know youre real upset about your boys toney and rahman getting whuppped,,,but lets not take that out on the rest of the division. most of the americans are dreadful,,,but the europeans are better than many other eras hands down

man, the fact that it took so long for someone to whup a fat, old MIDDLEWEIGHT speaks volume on the division.

I am a big Toney fan, but, come on, Peter is a top contender (most likely future titleholder), and he managed to lose on my cards the first fight with Toney.

Toney was a great fighter, but the fact that he was significant at HW is really sad for the guys who weigh a ripped 230+.
