    Maskaev Vs. Peter Winning Poll

Just want to see if anyone besides me is giving Maskaev any props?

Don't want to repeat whay I just said in another thread, so here are my thoughts:

"I'm gonna go on a limb here and say Maskaev beats Peter!

    Just a ****** intuition.
I can clearly see Maskaev being able to get a UD. His skills are VERY underrated.

On the other hand, Peter's win over Toney made him very overrated.. I mean, he looked incredible that night, but that's just not enough to solidify him in my book

P.S. - Don't beg me to make any bets as I want to see what shape the fighters are in.... I'm sure I'll have plenty of options to bet"

For me, Maskaev's KO win over Rahman was more impressive than Peter schooling Toney

I really can't see what Maskaev has to offer to Peter to win this fight..
Peter will constantly make Maskaev move backwards and eventually catch him with a right hand, lights out, Good night for Maskaev..

I think Peter wins the fight. Like I said in another thread, Maskaev has a chance but not a very big one. Rahman caught him with some good shots but Rahman is pure ****. Peter is a different story, he can KO anybody if he lands his shots and I don't think Maskaev has a jab good enough to keep Peter at the distance.

I keep telling people, watch Maskaev / Tua fight.
        (youtube)
You'll be surprised how well Maskaev was handling the prime / undefeated Tua.

He was easily winning the fight.. and then in the (I believe it was the 11th round) he goes after Tua (big mistake) and gets tagged.

Of course chances are on Peter's side, but like I said.. I would not discount Maskaev just yet.

His Boxing skills are far superior to Peter's

I'm not saying Maskaev wasn't underrated at some point- but let's be honest here. He's old now. I'm calling it- past his prime. Rachman is ****. Slow, awkward- I just don't care for him at all. Not a good champion to be one of the faces of boxing. Maskaev barley pulled out that win in my eyes- I could see his age. He had to dig deep...and that was against Hassim. Peter is young , strong, and determined. I think it's going to be a bit too much for the older Maskaev to deal with- even if he was at one point better than people give him credit for. He's not going to last long as champion. I mean..the Tua fight you spoke of was 10 years ago. The division is going to be getting younger soon because these old men can't keep fighting forever.

            Great post!

But you're forgetting that the only reason Rahman is decommissioned is because Maskaev KhimTFO!
It's the same Rahman, who earlier that same year, people were voting will beat Vitali. The same Rahman people were saying Toney was ducking.

But yes, you do have to take Peter's huge desire and hunger, as well as Maskaev's age into consideration. Peter will not stop at anything.
And in order for Maskaev to pull out a win, he needs to play a very safe and technical game - which will be a challenge, but not impossible with his skills.

but Maskave doesnt believe that he could beat Peters so he lost to Peters before he even entered the ring.

Where did you get that idea? Maskaev might not be the best boxer out there but he will fight to the last. Person who's been down at the bottom of the pit and managed to win a belt is not someone who loses before entering the ring.

it took him long time til he accepte the fight with Peters.

yes he got many lossess and comebacks but for him he just wants and big payday retirment quite that is why he called out Vital instead of Peters

It's NOT like Maskaev has NO chance at ALL... But I would say It's 60-40% Peter's favour... Not becasue I think Peter is anything Great.. But just That Maskaev Is Old and although Not chinny... He is Not iron jawed either.. I dont think Maskaev can KO Sam But I am sure Peter can KO Maskaev.. Maskaev is the superior Boxer.. But will it be enough ??? As Soprano said.. I would like to see what kind of shape they in before I make a predcition
