      Thanks for the info!
It's cool, i was sitting here thinking, how can calzaghe stay in the UK on free to air, when he can go to america and do HBO PPV against a big name.

60,000 tickets doesnt make anywhere near the money of 250,000 PPV sales at $54.99 each

And 250,000 against a top name is moderate PPV sales in the USA at best.

He needs to go to america and fight somebody who isnt Kessler.

        I said

        'AS FAR AS I KNOW'

        it will be on ITV.

        For the following reasons

-Warren has a deal with ITV.

-Most of calzaghe's lastest fights have been on itv for free.

So common sense is thats what may happen,

Who cares if its on Santanta lmao, no ever gave a **** about that, i dont think people would shell out cash to watch Calzaghe Kessler.

        Im talking real PPV, HBO,

and in america this is gonna be free to air im pretty sure.

Actually Tony is right though, i had a look, dont think it will be on ITV actually, reading something now, could be santanta, which is even worse cos the viewing numbers are gonna be shocking now.

          Nobody cares about Santanta.

Well boxing isn't all that great in America too, **** WWE and UFC makes more money then boxing. BTW I've been to London 3 times and soon to be 4. I have family in London.

If we don't have PPV's, most fights can sell over 50000 tickets if it was in a stadium, PPV generates money, not 50000 tickets.

50 mil is still alot of people, I hate to say it but most latin Americans can't afford PPV fights.

Where did I say I want PPV's? I'm a big boxing fan and will pay for most PPV's, at least we can sell alot of PPV's unlike some other countries.

              Tony628 was correct,

The fight is on Santanta, ITV didnt bid for the fight this time.

              Boxing: ITV ‘didn’t bid for Calzaghe fight’Jul 15 2007

by Peter Shuttleworth, Wales On Sunday

TERRESTRIAL TV giants ITV did not enter the bidding for world boxing champ Joe Calzaghe’s final multi-fight deal, Wales on Sunday understands, writes PETER SHUTTLEWORTH.

The rights to the record-breaking boxing champ’s next fights have been sold exclusively to satellite channel Setanta Sports – even though new 12-month deals have been struck with ITV to cover promoter Frank Warren’s other fighters, Amir Khan and Enzo Maccarinelli.

An ITV insider revealed: “For the money Frank Warren needs to attract the big names like Mikkel Kessler, he needs the financial clout of American TV channels on board.

“That means Joe fighting in the early hours of the morning so it is live in the States.

“ITV are a commercial broadcaster which makes its money from advertising.

              Story continues

“Although we enjoyed great success with Joe, and Joe had great success with us, it won’t be financially viable for us to continue our partnership.

“We would not be able to attract substantial enough advertising deals to cover the cost of the contract if the shows are on in the middle of the night.

“We are looking for prime-time Saturday night shows.”

Calzaghe’s promoter Warren, though, is not concerned about the inevitable drop in TV audience figures in the UK because American TV is where the mega money lies.

And Warren has sparked a bidding war between US pay-per-view rivals HBO – who have broadcast Calzaghe’s fights since his career-defining demolition of Jeff Lacy – and Showtime.

If Calzaghe’s army of Welsh fans want to see his long-awaited unification battle with unbeaten super-middleweight Mikkel Kessler, they will either have to join the 200,000 subscribers to Setanta or attend the fight, which takes place at The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in the early hours of November 4.

Last night, Calzaghe was putting a brave face on going back to satellite. “It was great being on ITV,” he admitted. “But they are not paying as much as Setanta, so you have got to go where the money is.”

Calzaghe’s compensation is an estimated £1m payday.

So now that we know the fight is on Santanta,

Can someone explain to me how this fight acutally makes any money,

If HBO show this free to air (they will if they have any common sense)

Who is actually gonna buy this fight on Santanta?

I cant wait to see the Numbers for the this fight in the UK.

basicly setanta is a channel you can subscribe too or buy a 1 off ppv to an event.
to subcribe the channel it is £15 a month and ppv is £20 an event.
when subscribing you have to tell them wat your subscribing for so if you say the joe calzaghe fight sports network and frank warren will get a % of the months subscription fee.

Cool, the point was though, i dont think many people are gonna pay to watch this especially after seeing calzaghe free on itv, lol.

Ive made a poll about it now so we can discuss it in there.

For all the **** talk about ticket sales, lets be honest

If Calzaghe kessler was on PPV, would you buy it?

                      I wouldnt
I half to disagree with you here. I'd buy it.
I didn't buy Hopkins and Wright, and I am glad of it.
Though the Katsidis/Csar fight would maybe have been worth it.
