No he wont. because after he beats Kessler, they will claim Kessler was over-rated. After beats Hopkins, it will because Hopkins was 42. You cant win with these Americans.

True very true!! But saying that quite a few U.S boxing fans do give credit where credit is due..But I do know what your saying I dont know why they are like that, There has been so many U.S fighters I have stayed up to watch at silly hours in the morning...

Wouldnt matter, the judges would call it a low blow, cheap shot or something else so Hopkins would lose.

Some very strange posts in this thread.

Calzaghe's fight is being screened on Setanta because the money is so much better, it only has 200,000 subscribers so all British boxing fans and Welsh sports fans who want to see Calzaghe's next fight will either have to subscribe to Setanta or buy tickets and attend the fight (more likely the latter!), that's why there is an estimated 75,000 crowd for Nov

Setanta paid Ricky Hatton £1.5million up-front to screen his last fight (Home Box Office in the States paid £2.5million and he got a further £1million from sponsors, equating to $10million in all for four rounds work) and they're paying Joe Calzaghe £1million up-front, what American TV money is coming in yet we don't know. Calzaghe's biggest purse to date is £900,000 against Manfredo.

Joe will forever stay outside of the U.S. ...doesn't he know legacy is much sweeter in the U.S.?...and Hopkins may not be much competition, by the looks of his style....BUT, hopkins wins period...even when he loses, he wins lol...seems like it...he'd have Calzaghe blunted and stumbling by the end of the night, and u all know this...

I smell fear in that article...the fear of coming to the states along with it...

If Calzaghe turns down the challenge from Hopkins should he prevail over Kessler I'm going to be pissed!

Calzaghe has been a spectacular fighter. Where he lacked for comp, he made up with some awesome repeat viewing bouts like Mitchell, Woodhall, Brewer and he hadrly ever loses rounds. When Roy drums junk like pazienza and Byrd people oooh and ahhhh, but Calzaghe has lost about the same % of rounds as any of those cats. If he closes with wins over Lacy, Kessler, and Hopkins, that's a rad resume.

Heck, I think Kessler beats him nip/tuck and I'd still say Hopkins-Calzaghe should get made.

Calzaghe's probably one of the smartest underrated boxers of our time. The guy can't lose. And it's not because you guys think he's too ****y and that will be his down fall, the guys a genius in the ring. And we only seen him get thrown off his game when boxers really try to cheat and use their heads as weapons and lots of illegal punches like bika threw.

To all those idiots who carp that he never came to the U.S....he's had more fights out of his home nation than Roy or Floyd. Hell, Roy fought most of his career in the Gulf Coast. Calzaghe sold more tickets THIS year than Roy sold from 1994-1998.

And Carlos Monzon didn't fight here much either and he turned out okey dokey
