I am not arguing with you, its just fun debate. Were some of Williams punches not hard stiff punches, sure. But many fighters use the jab as a measurement to create space, or just keep a fighter off balance. Some throw the jab as a power shot (like Quartey). Williams uses his reach, speed, and workrate to keep a fighter off balance. Marg is usless unless he can set his feet and swing. Why not beat him but keeping him guessing 90% of the fight.
WOW, Outside of HBO the fight was alot closer

I saw this fight live yesterday, and to be honest, I had it for Margarito also. It was different watching it live because every time Margarito landed, the sound of the impact was loud and gave you the sense the Margarito was landing the more meaningful and harder shots while Williams was just throwing pity pat shots that were never taking any affect on Margarito, and **** was funny when people were saying, "Chop that tree down, the bigger they are, the harder they fall," lol. Oh and also, the crowd was ****'en amazing for the fight, from watching the reply, it couldn't show you that, the place was really loud.Comment

I was ringside and did my own poll of the other press row guys. It was about 60% to 40% Williams but they all had it 115-113.
I had it 115-113 Williams. Many of the press row guys were actully cheering for Margarito during the fight. I have never seen that before. Most of the time the men I sit near are unbiased, but that was not the case here, and I have no idea why.Comment

Interesting. I had Williams winning by the same 116-112 margin...but Margarito definitely won the second half of the fight. It would have been nice to see that one go 15 rounds.I got this from Yahoo's boxings page:
Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports: Margarito, 116-112
Tim Smith, New York Daily News: Draw, 114-114
Steve Springer, Los Angeles Times: Draw, 114-114
Bill Dwyre, Los Angeles Times: Margarito, 115-113
Steve Kim, MaxBoxing.com: Margarito, 115-113
Doug Fischer, MaxBoxing.com: Margarito, 115-113
Jerry Magee, San Diego Union-Tribune: Williams,
116-112
Robert Morales, Los Angeles Daily News: Williams,
115-113
Carlos Arias, Orange County Register: Williams,
115-113
David Avila, Riverside Press Enterprise: Draw, 114-114
Francisco Salazar, *********.com: Draw, 114-114
I had it 116-112 Williams, but I think the fight showed that both margarito and williams are world class level guys... i think they give any of the top guys a tough fightComment

I was at the fight rooting for my man Tony Margarito, in my opinion he lost it clearly, watching it live was even worse then it was on TV, I thought Williams won 11 rounds when watching it live, all you see Williams throwing punch after punch. After watching the replay in TV, I had it 8-4 for williams.
Williams was the better man tonight, Tony will be back & win another belt soon, I'm not worried whats so ever.Comment

I had great seats, you can actually see me on TV, I was wearing a blue shirt with a red cap.
I agree it was more fun cause we all were rooting for Tony, both me and my friend thought Tony needs a KO to win, we both thought he lost most of the rounds, watching it on TV again, it was a little closer, still 8-4 for Williams.
No shame at all, I'm pretty sure when Tony sees the replay, he will agree Williams was the better man tonight.
He will be back!Comment
