  • WOW, Outside of HBO the fight was alot closer

I got this from Yahoo's boxings page:

Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports: Margarito, 116-112

Tim Smith, New York Daily News: Draw, 114-114

Steve Springer, Los Angeles Times: Draw, 114-114

Bill Dwyre, Los Angeles Times: Margarito, 115-113

    Steve Kim, MaxBoxing.com: Margarito, 115-113

    Doug Fischer, MaxBoxing.com: Margarito, 115-113

Jerry Magee, San Diego Union-Tribune: Williams,
    116-112

Robert Morales, Los Angeles Daily News: Williams,
    115-113

Carlos Arias, Orange County Register: Williams,
    115-113

David Avila, Riverside Press Enterprise: Draw, 114-114

    Francisco Salazar, *********.com: Draw, 114-114

I had it 116-112 Williams, but I think the fight showed that both margarito and williams are world class level guys... i think they give any of the top guys a tough fight

          Ugh.

could this be the once again HBO bias or maybe people just extending their hate for Margarito some more? Williams backhanded a ton of blocked pitter patter and a lot of it didn't even land. Tony landed the better shots hands down......there's just no comparison there.

I agree in that Williams probably won but it was closer than Ledderman had it that's for sure. He was just nuthugging the entire way as usual.

i had 9 rounds to 2 with 1 even. The fight wasnt close at all and i even watchd it with the sound off and i even scored it 10 rounds to 2 for williams. this was a dominant performance. theres no way in hell that williams lost any of the first 6 rounds. And there is no way he lost all rounds after that. i had it a shutout until 10th round.

Williams threw over 100 punches a round! I dun see how you can't win doing that. Not to mention a lot were landing even though a lot were blocked. In the end there were more landed for Williams and more thrown. That means he def won. ****, if you do that and can't win, how the hell do you beat someone like Margarito? When Margarito decides to do nothing for the first 6 rounds and then come on late but still doesn't win the entire 2nd half of the fight, how does he deserve to win more than the guy that fought from START TO FINISH?

You're right that Williams's punches were backhanded pitter patter ****, mostly worthless punches. But Marg didn't do enough except in four of the late rounds. He looked slow; if he had pressed the gas at the end of the 11th he could have had a 10-8 round, and he didn't go after it in the twelfth. I wasn't impressed with Williams, but I though 116-112 in his favor was a good score

No doubt.....It was'nt really even close just entertaining down the stretch because Margy did really go for the win he just could'nt get it and Williams dominated early.
