id also like to add, im not hating on beckham, commercially he is always gonna be a good signing, football wise at the top level he is too predictable for my liking, the english press over here are hilarious, they totally missed out the 1st two years he had at real when he was just horrible and then he got dropped and moved back onto the right wing, and because he had some good games this season they declare him a sucess.

No is the answer, Capello didnt rate him for a reason, and if real madrid had stopped with the 'Galatico project'(One major signing per season) and realised that putting him in Centre mid wouldn't work (they tried to copy the Andrea Pirlo DM playmaker role at milan) and kept Makalele and Luis Figo, they probably would have been serious champions league contenders over the last few years.

soccer(err hate calling it that- football as it should be called) is not as big as boxing in the US, but thats just the way they are alot of ppl discredit it over there but most NFL or NBA players would struggle to adapt to the game and fitness levels required in the championship let alone epl, whereas most footballers would be able to compete fitness wise with the stars of american sports, footballers are real athletes these days, and who cares if the yanks dont like it everywhere else it is seen a the number 1 sport if not then atleast in the top 5.

Beckham is a celebrity. He's the poster boy for metrosexuality, & I'll assume there are many ****sexual men, along with hetero women, who don't care if he's a soccer player or a ****ing soap opera star......Those people will pay attention to him.

His foray into America will wind up showing everyone how soccer will never capture the imagination of American sports fans. The sport brings over a big gun, & in the long run it changes nothing.
Soccer is viewed by most Americans as a lesser sport. It's been around forever, yet we don't care for it. So, we never will care for it.

Actually, American's don't like SOCCER because it's BORING. People run around kicking a ball and accomplish NOTHING. If you take away the penalty kicks every game would end 0 to 0. There's a reason why baseball has dropped to third in American sports: It's too slow paced and has long stretches where nothing is going on. Bear in mind I'm a baseball fan, I just understand why it popularity slipped. Soccer has even LESS action and less scoring than Hockey ffs. The only people who could find it entertaining are those who live in societies where their entertainment options are sadly limited.

as long as beckham is a role model, society will continue to degrade.

I dont have a problem with guys having long hair, but **** me, beckham has had those hair clips that women wear.

He obviously plucks his eyebrows and probably gets his bikini line done with Posh ****e.

He is a good player but what a nancy boy.

i thought it was because most americans lacked the concentration span to appreciate it.
