I'd say that the 6th round in the Mayweather-Gatti fight is probably one of the most brutal rounds without a fighter going down.

I am a big Mayweather fan, but that was just hard to watch. I was screaming at the TV, hoping they'd stop the fight. I honestly think Arturo could of lost his life that night if the fight had continued.

I firmly believe that was the night Buddy McGirt saved a life.

Tito-Mayorga's 5th round also comes to mind.
Exact same two I was thinking of. Spot on, dude.

My sentiments exactly...which is why I think the biggest ass whooping of all time was Gatti-Gamache, no disrespect to Joey G. And that's exactly what happend to him...he tried suing a few years ago due to brain damage sustained in that fight.

        I disagree with this one.

Schmeling took a beating for 2 minutes. Louis hit him with about 4 really good shots.

Gatti took a vicious beating over the course of 6 rounds. Mayweather hit Gatti with about 60 good shots.

Roy Jones-Richard Hall, Kostya Tszyu-Miguel A. Gonzalez, Simon Brown-Jorge Vaca, Julio Cesar Chavez-Edwin Rosario, and James Toney-Iran Barkley were all probably worse.

Jones-Hall was the worst beatdown since Caine on Ilena's cousin in Menace.

Robinson was in absolutely tremendous condition for that fight
It was competitive, but the last 3 rounds were extremely brutal. Fullmer-Paret was another bad beating.

              it was one of 'em.

but trust me, you watch enough boxing, you'll see some fights that were much more one-sided than floyd/gatti.

              louis/schmeling 2
              dempsey/willard
              foreman/frazier 1
              cooney/norton

i think these were far worse than floyd/gatti. floyd dominated gatti with skill and speed. louis, dempsey, foreman, and cooney all dominated with sheer size, strength, and aggression.

it really depends on ur point of view. what do you think is the more dominant method? power and aggression? or speed and skill?

That whippin was. you know why?

So many people who knew nothing about the sport thought that Gatti was going to win. I had guys arguing with me that Gatti was one of the best boxers in the world. I made so much money that day it was crazy.

Willard Dempsey is the worst. The Mayweather fight is pretty ugly. He was tagging Gatti at will, and landing combos I've never seen before.

                    my thoughts exactly.

I wouldnt say it was so much of a brutal beatdown but one of the best exhibtions of a boxer schooling and outclassing a puncher
