Step down to WW and fight Cotto. Of course pbf and even paulie would have a good chance of beating Hatton but cotto would be the ultimate test for him. I'll shut up about both those guys if the fight happens before Hatton is like 35 or shot. Know who both these guys are waiting for "as the fight of their careers"? Shane Mosley or Oscar De La Hoya. IF Shane or Oscar performances are those of a "shot" fighter (like Castillo last performance before the Hatton fight) both their age and that will make Hatton and Cotto suddenly interested in those fighters. Or wait a couple of years and bring back an old Mayweather. Thats boxing, how do you feel about it? I simply hate and decided simply not to invest any money in any fight which smells rigged. Hatton Castillo shouldnt have happened. Hatton had such good oposition in the WW division. Why did he came up??? His tittles come and go as mandatory defenses are implied
ummm.... he didnt come up, he went down, he is in light welter, not welter. he came down from welter after movin up there cuz the guys are too tough for little ricky.

I was amazed at the amount of clinches Hatton got away with against Castillo. I don't want to take away from his performance (I think Castillo could've continued but chose not to) but his style is not really that crowd-pleasing any more. As Max Kellerman said, he's the hooking-hugger.

His style is taylor-made for someone like Malignaggi or PBF. A good boxer with a good jab will give Hatton his first L.
oh shutup. that was an exciting fight from round 2 on, and Hatton fights twice as hard as Ruiz

Hatton is allowed to clinch agaunst guys that don't snap out a jab to combat it. He had that same trouble when Collazo kept hiom at bay. Guys like Paulie will either keep him off with the jab or make him get deductions. It looks much worse when you clinch a boxer.

They are just trying to cash their last checks but you don't see that in other sports.. For instance if you put a bum in a mma bout he would very likely be injured for life and huge bad publicity would come to the sport. It's rare a good fight pass the 2nd round, a bum never lasts more than 30 seconds. In boxing they can put in any vet and he will still make 8 rounds against a contender.
First of all, you can't tell if a fighter is shot or not. There are some days with bad performances, and others with opponents that make you look bad.
And if a fighter actually is shot, you won't know before he indeed fights.

It makes no sense to compare an aging Castillo, or any champions for that matter, with a bum in MMA.
A bum would get hurt in a boxing match too.
There is no such thing as a champion bum in the sport of boxing, so the statement you made doesn't really put you in a good light.

"In boxing they can put in any vet and he will still make 8 rounds against a contender."
A veteran, yes. A bum, no.
If an old, shot veteran is able to go 8 rounds with a contender, that tells you one of two things; The vet is/was very very good, or, the contender really isn't all that.

Your post makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

And when it comes to one last paycheck, I'm pretty sure you think the same way when your girl leaves you..?

Actually, I didn't think so. I thought Hatton was holding too much and Cortez wasn't being fair. He warned Ricky repeatedly for holding behind the head and pushing the head down but deducted a point after only one warning to Castillo (on a punch that was on the beltline, not even low).

That's not to take away from what Ricky did. I thought Castillo would wear him down and TKO him by 10 and I was wrong. However, that doesn't mean that the style that Hatton fought was crowd pleasing in any way. I kept yelling at the screen for Hatton to quit hookin' and huggin'.

Castillo gave up, in my mind, and Hatton probably gave him good reason to. That said, I don't think Hatton can beat a boxer, or at least a fighter who's a good jabber.

Hatton is quick. Hatton has real skills. Hatton is strong. Hatton is an exciting fighter. Hatton is one of my favorite fighters...almost.

Now only if Hatton doesn't clinch that much. It's getting more irritating and he's getting better with clinching with each fight.

thats exactly how i feel. hatton definitely has skills but he holds too damn much. after every punch. against castillo not only was he hugging too much he was holding his arms so that he couldnt punch. this in my opinion is getting out of control.
