Alot of people are saying how MMA card have alot more fights than a boxing card does. Other than extending the PPV slots, boxing is at a disadvantage here just due to the difference in the sports. MMA championship fights are 5 5-minute rounds, and all others are 3 5-minutes rounds. Boxing bouts are 12 3-minute rounds for championship fights, but they have 4,6,8,and 10 round fights. As the boxers move up in their careers they fight in the longer bouts. So if boxing wants to put more fights on a card they either have to put on a bunch of 4 round fights, meaning the boxers will not be very seasoned fighters, or extend the PPV slots to accomodate more fights.Comment

And to the guys saying UFC only appeals to people want to see guys maimed or beaten bad, STFU. There will always be some idiots there, but there are idiot boxing fans too. UFC/MMA has been around since 1993. In that time there has NEVER been a death or anyone being cripppled in the US or Japan. UFC does not even try and market themselves to those kinds of people. If anyone is going to see MMA hoping to see that ****, they are A) ****ed in the head, and B) wasting their money.
At the smaller shows, many of the fans there train in MMA and go to watch the fights. It's not full of a bunch of inbred hicks yelling for blood(but there will always be a few).Comment

MMA is a great sport, i mean i love boxing and have since i was like 5, but i also love MMA since i started training in it when i was 17, all because i did boxing and my friend was a black belt in ju jitsu and we wanted to see who was the better fighter, first round he had me on the floor and on top of me, it is so hard to fight off of your back, its harder than any situation ive ever experenced in boxing, i mean in boxing you can get picked off, or get pot shotted, if someone gets on top of u in a cage your pretty much ****ed unless you no wat to do........and now i doComment

Considering the fact that the most popular era of recent boxing was when Mike Tyson was on top, you can't say that boxing fans are more civilized than MMA fans.
People only liked Tyson because he hurt people badly. Since him, boxing has been in a slow, sad decline.
Casual fans appreciate exciting MMA fights much more than gruesome injuries.
And last I checked, MMA still hasn't caused anyone to develop serious mental issues. Anyone in MMA who sounds like a ******, started off sounding that way.Comment

I've been around the bar scene since MMA broke in the early 90's.. I've been aroung literally thousands of MMA and Boxing fans at their respective events and telecasts and the difference in the language, attitude, and expression of each group is MARKEDLY different.
MILES APART!!!
The screams for violence and mayhem are all over the ****ing place when these MMA things run.. ******ic oohs and aaahs can be be heard in 360 degree surround sound when they see blood or a broken limb..
Boxing fans are like golf fans by comparison.
It's a goddamn joke what you're saying.
Quit talkin out yer ass.Comment
