    The appeal of UFC

Boxing is hurting because of "boring fights."

Boring fights = no 'hurt' exchanges, no knockdowns, no knockouts.

UFC almost always has blood, injury's, and knockouts.

(Submissions or actual fractured and broken limbs as well..)

Many well informed and knowledgable MMA posters on this forum have made it very clear to us all, that MMA involves skill, technique, ect.

I say very few of the people who follow UFC, Pride, and MMA are in this category.

I say most people who watch this stuff figure they're going to see somebody get ****ed up.

They're going to see someone get hurt.

That is the appeal of UFC.

And the fact that the sport is more CONSISTANTLY entertaining. You rarely see a dull fight.

AND the fact that when you PPV a fight, ur paying for 6 or 7 exciting fights, not just 1 or 2 like us boxing fans do far to often.

But, with the conistancy in entertainment, comes the inability to be HUGELY dramatic and enthralling.

Take any FOTY boxing match from ANY year, and it is more exciting then the greatest UFC/MMA match ever held.

I like both sports, but id much rather hand over 30 bucks for 6 or 7 good fights, then just 1, or if im lucky, 2 good fights

why post this on a boxing forum though, you know its just gonna cause anger, arguments that go over and over again. Keep MMA to that part of the forum and boxing to this, I don't like MMA it doesn't appeal to me and it doesn't have a place on a boxing part of a forum. I like K1 thats about as far as I go with MMA.

This is NOT a pro MMA thread.

It might have sounded positive, but if you look at the words more carefully the message is the same; MMA represents everything wrong with this world.

I have NEVER posted in MMA, and never will.

They know I am fiercely opposed to this "glorified tough man contest."

        Boxing is a sport.

Boxing is an institution that will never go away. Never.

I could never understand MMA, I just don't see the grace in it that boxing got.

You know there is a real point to be made that for a PPV fight we could do with some more variety. If I'm dropping fifty notes on a fight I'd like to see a couple of twelve rounders including the main event, a ten rounder, a six and hey, why not show us a four round fight and give some exposure to a new prospect. The PPV would preferably broadcast the entire card, not just the last two fights. That way we'd see several stoppages and a real variety of weight classes and styles. If anything can be learned from the UFC model of PPVs this is it.

Addison, remember that movie(virtuosity) with Denzel and Russel Crow(where he is a total badass), well boxers to me share some of the traits that Sid had. Being a total bad ass with grace. Very weird comparison, I know, but this is how I feel.

addisons right. but maybe you relate if I put it like this:
On a good night, MMA is like kick ass cold pizza, instant gratification, cheap and easy

On a good night, Boxing is like a great 3 course meal , usually costs more, lots of flavor and textures but takes longer to enjoy

I'm pretty sure that was the appeal of boxing in 100 A.D. also.

I guess, like the ancients who invented the sport, we just dont understand the "sweet science"

I see your point here, but I am not trying to slag off MMA at all, this is just not my thing
