I will always hold that against Richard Steele. I really wish that Taylor at least had that win so that he could look back on that fight without feeling cheated.
you know i never really understand that argument. If Richard Steele hadnt stopped that fight, imagine what one more punch couldve done to Taylor and then would you be able to forgive him? Yes the time was running out, but Steele could take no chances and made the right decision. Like Steele has said before, Taylor was taking a serious beating throughout the whole fight, and being so close to the action he knew what was going on. If you dont answer the ref, look away too your corner, what do you expect the ref to do? Its a very sad situation, but you cant hold something like that against Richard Steele.

Watching the fight, it's hard to tell if Taylor is so far gone that he has no idea Steele is even talking to him, if he's distracted by his corner, or a little of both. The fact is, there's 2 seconds left. Taylor and Chavez are in opposite corners, they're not even going to make it to the center of the ring before time is up. Just my opinion though...I don't want this thread to become a debate on whether or not the fight should have been stopped.

for me, gatti getting stopped by baldomir and mayweather.

in general, joe louis getting knocked out by marciano and ali getting battered by larry holmes.

Richard Steele was a ***** for that **** he cost that man that fight and his moment of glory for all the hard work he had put in his whole career. You acting like he was out of it like Trevo Burbick in the Tyson fight or Zab Judah in the Kosta Tyzu fight. If I was boxer Richard Steele would never ref my fights.

looking back, i find it saddening to watch Vargas lose to both Tito and Oscar in the devastating fashion that he did. those guys litterally ended his career. he was young, ready to take on the world or so he thought, but in those fights he got a very rude awakeninng.

it was a good fight, but if u look past all the pitty pat flurries of taylor, u'd see how much damage he took.... even the first time i watched it i thought it could've gone either way, hell, i was leaning more towards chavez... it's obvious who took more damage that fight, the whole fight chavez was getting inside, hitting him with punches, and landing the way more effective punches, taylor would dance around and throw flurries... nothing against taylor though, at times he threw some hard shots, he showed a hell of a lot of heart, determination, and a great chin, he definitely fought like a champion, but i don't think there's any way he won by a ****ing landslide

                    Barney Ross vs Henry Armstrong

and seeing ali then and now is hard, I believe he can no longer speak. parkinson's disease is really terrible.

trinidad-wright was pretty upsetting for me, so was jones-tarver 2 n jones-johnson, ali-holmes, louis-marciano, de la hoya-chavez, any great fighter who gets beat at the end of his career is upsetting, whether u're a fan of him or not
