Nope never make the first move.. always use the other guys momentum against him.. You can counter him with a JAB if he telegraphs his punch enough .. if he ahs enough forward momentum.. you can stun him with the JAB and then Finish him with a nice right..

But still What you are saying works too.. But I prefer to counter

I don't know how u guys fight in the street, but we don't box. I've seen people bite, spit, throw sand in the face, etc. Boxing is boxing. A fight is a fight. I will do just about anything to win. You can try dat boxing **** but when somebody bites you like a dog and punches you in your throat or knee you we'll see how much it helps.

In a street fight most mma skills are useless. If you are fighting the guy 1 on 1 on a padded floor maybe its of use, lets be honest, if you are in the real world, you probably have more than one attacker, going for a take down will get you kicked in the back of the head, stabbed, or worse.

If you have to fight, stay on your feet, fight fast and feriociously until they are no threat, then run like the wind or you'll get busted.
I agree with this thats why I don't buy the whole "I'll let the other guy hit me first," talk. Just like pro fighters say, everyone has a plan until they get punched. A single punch can rattle you, and cause you to panic. Thats why if I think its going down, I'm making sure I get off first.

I have a friend that just recently beat the hell out of some 4th degree black belt kid because he just started wailing on him with haymakers, and the kid panicked.

Boxing helps like any martial art would help, but you need to be multi dimensional if your in a street fight with someone who has some fighting ability. Unless you get a lucky punch in and KO the dude you will end up wrestling/grappling. So I would say its good to know some other art like wrestling to help you out if you dont KO the guy with the first couple of blows.

The chances of breaking your hands in a street fight are pretty high.

If it goes to the ground, like it usually does, it pays to be knowledgeable and in good condition in that situation.
