    Boxing technique in street fights

In your opinion how much does boxing technique help in street fights, especially going up against a taller, heavier opponent. I realize since obviously there are no gloves in a street fight that it is a different ball game and harder to protect yourself. Also I would like to hear stories of fights (what punches thrown, how did non-boxer opponent react, outcome etc) from anyone who trains for boxing.

Knowing how to fight is knowing how to fight. Boxing is just as much a martial art as any form of Karate, Judo, etc. and an experienced boxer will most likely be able to beat hell out of anyone else on the street.

      From a known stereotype.

Boxers can't fight worth **** on the ground.

I saw a boxer get grounded n pounded due to being wrestled.

I go UFC style in street fights, throw some punches in boxing style, then if I think I got them with a good 1 then I tackle them to the ground(make sure they slam there head or back on the concrete,to stun them),then I pound on them in the face and all facial openings I see.

          Personally.

I don't see why anyone would fight standing up unless they were governed by marques of queensbury rules like they are in boxing.

It's helped make guys miss a few times if he's throwing knockout shots from his hips.

Counter punching and just realizing how fast or slow punches actually come at you is a big advantage.

The most obvious advantage was punching technique ending most fights with the first shot or two if I knew it was unavoidable.

Outside of that....I got my teeth handed to me by anyone with a reasonable take down offense or wrestling background.

So...learn the basics of head movement, counterpunching, & balance. THEN get your rear to a judo or jujitzu class. Armbars, guillotine & Triangle chokes, and kimuras....All from the back. Learn a good double leg or body lock takedown, LEARN HOW TO MAINTAIN Balance when in the mount. It's freaking harder than it looks.

Um...yea. Thats about all. Boxing is AMAZING for the first 20 seconds. Looks cooler too. Then...it sucks balls when you are flat on your back eating haymakers cause the guy is still awake.

In a street fight you have to know how to duck and circle, everything else is instinct. I have no special technique, because everyone I hit falls to the ground. I hate fighting on the ground, you sc**** your knuckles all up, so I let you get up and kock your ass down again and again until you quit...

the skill that boxing gives is accurate punches and experiance. Of course a one punch KO to the chin aswell.
