Muay Thai is dope. That and a ground attack should be almost complete package for mma style fights. I've been watching this show Human Weapon, forgot what channel it was but it featured 2 hosts, 1 host is an mma fighter and the other was a former NFL player/wrestler and they go to different countries to learn the different fighting styles of that country and show the history of the art. At the end of the show they pick between the 2 hosts to go toe to toe in that style with a chosen fighter specializing in that specific style. So far I've seen Judo, Savate, krav maga(dope), pancrase, Filipino Kali, and missed muay thai. I like seeing that MMA dude try and handle other styles. Some of the styles do actually work for the street. You should look it up and check it out.

Boxing is great for fighting guys on the street. Boxing teaches you footwork, balance and to keep your hands up. Not to mention a boxer would see more openings then a street fighyter would.

in a street fight the most important thing to do if u are not used in fighting is to run. just because u run away from a street fight doesnt mean ur not brave. think about ur life first. the reason for running is to avoid getting hurt. u dont get any credits from a street fight. u wont get any recognition out of it unless u talk about it with ur drinking buddies, then u get something to boast about. but if u really dont have a choice in a street fight use all the dirty tactics u could to win or get away from it. kick the person in the balls, if u see a long object that u could use as weapon pick it and use it. by using long object for weapons is to keep the distance of ur attacker far away as possible to ur body. weapons u could pick up are steel pipes, thick long wood, baseball bats, cricket bats, etc. in street fights people would basically have weapons with them like knives, brassknuckles etc. anything they could use to hurt u badly. so using the long weapons which i indicate would be a great help to keep them away from stabbing u. but of course having some knowledge in martial arts would be a plus when it comes to worse. try studying basic defenses such as taekwondo, karate, aikido and judo. this martial arts are only to keep u away and have defense from ur attacker. or if u want to advance learn krav maga. its a self defense use to train soldiers, armed forces, marines, police, secret service etc. now if u want to learn a martial arts just to kick someones ass on the streets or lets say u got a fight with someone u know from ur hood study muay thai, boxing and jiujitsu now with this 3 skills u will surely kick ass in the streets. having said all these if u are too lazy to learn and train ur ass and if you dont want to go through all this bull**** buy a gun at a local gunstore and just shoot their head off if they **** with you.

you can have all the boxing skills or street fighting skills in the world but if you lack the mental strength to street fight you will get ktfo.

I have seen a martial artist who had years of experience, black belts etc get beaten senseless by someone throwing wild haymaker type punches.

In a street fight most mma skills are useless. If you are fighting the guy 1 on 1 on a padded floor maybe its of use, lets be honest, if you are in the real world, you probably have more than one attacker, going for a take down will get you kicked in the back of the head, stabbed, or worse.

If you have to fight, stay on your feet, fight fast and feriociously until they are no threat, then run like the wind or you'll get busted.

I dont see fights go to the ground often either. I live in the Bay Area California. And ive seen plenty of street fights as well as been in quite a few myself. If you see a fight go to the ground its because someone got Ko'd or lost balance. But you dont see much tackling out here. It is a pride thing to stand up and go toe to toe. But being that MMA is getting popular now, it probably happens more often today and im not around the younger crowd as often. Basically Boxing will give you speed, power, accuracy, and balance. In a street fight, throw all technique out the window and throw as fast and hard as you can furiously with intention to kill. If your trained and can throw your punches properly the fight will be over fast. 95% of people are untrained. You train, you win period.

Did anyone metion the immense value of headbutts to start a fight? A split lip or broken nose is a pretty big disadvantage. The other guy talks ****, and you just ram your forehead in their nose/mouth.

Biting is very effective as is eye gouging, however growing up there is higher chance of getting illnesses with biting (you bite odler ppl who are more likely to have some disease), bear that in mind.

groin hitting in any way is also great

I think boxing helps with proper punching technique and with better ability to judge distances.

As I mentioned, Hopkins' headbutting skills are also not to be discarded.

Boxing is a very incomplete form of fighting, but you get to meet more good boxers than good MMartists so that kind of evens it out IMO.

running is great, being on drugs/alcohol is not (it might make it more fun, though).
