i bought a 'slam-man' off ebay for $90 shipped. its a combo dummy that lights up in various sequences of punches. i just use it as a combo dummy though. one warning , after less then a year of use he is busted the **** up..i have scotch tape holding his face together. but even at that i'd buy another one.

the cool thing about dummies is that you will naturally learn to throw better punches. when i first started i was ****ing my hands and wrists up because i didn't have good technique. after awhile i started picking it up and now i can hit it all day without breaking wrists or jamming fingers. it naturally makes your technique better

    but yeah just check ebay

In my experience taking a fight to the ground is the quickest way to recieve a sound kicking from your opponent's friends. Street fights are never one-on-one.

Boxing enables you to keep moving on your toes and keeping the guys off you with jabs until you can land something meaningful and run like ****.

Boxing is great for street fighting!!! There is no better looking way to knock someone out with a punch!!! Where i come from no one really trains in mma only boxing n kickboxing!!! I have seen many street fights and seen boxers ko kickboxers n kickboxers ko boxers!!! All it comes down to on the street is who has the heart to keep fighting!!! ive seen guys winning the fight and run away because the other guy isnt giving up!!! Always throw the 1st punch cause most street fights dont last long!!!

Straight rights, blocking and power are your friend.

Also I would like to hear stories of fights (what punches thrown, how did non-boxer opponent react, outcome etc) from anyone who trains for boxing.
90% of all untrained fighters will throw an over hand right as their first move..

So assume the orthodox stance... Keep your left high and ready to block.. and your right ready to counter.. Works almost everytime..

So with that said if I'm squared up against someone in an orthodox stance should I jab with the left first straight to the face since he'll probably be expecting a looping overright hand as most people do when they fight?

fo sho. hey osoto hari? i thgought it was "osoto gari," you are talking about the back leg sweep when you put your chest into his body, your head behind his shoulder, and sweep his closet leg? i've used that move a punch of times, especially when i got tired. i forgot alot of the names, but once i get them down like that i do the plain ole headlock on the ground with his arm under your armpit. alot of people do know know how to react to that move. in fact no one was able to react to that one. also the headlock throw. i forgot what that one is called. choke a ***** out with his corrated artery.
