Cotto deserved the win. He has greater strength and stamina, and is able to be more persistantly aggressive and so gradually wears down his opponent. Zab is a skillful fighter but he takes breaks and seemed to slow down in the last few rounds. The ref made the right decision, Zab could have been hurt if the fight was allowed to continue. He would have needed to win by KO because he was so far behind, but he was obviously in no condition to KO Cotto at that point. Cotto had won every round except for the first, so there was no doubt about the result if it had gone to the scorecards.Last edited by Steelhammer86; 06-10-2007, 12:46 AM.

good stoppage. he was barely able to defend himself and was taking heavy shots to both body and head. if the fight had continued, zab would have been properly KOd and taken more damage.
the only people who think this was a bad stoppage must either hate zab and wanted him to get more hurt, or are just blood-lust freaks who should be watching UFC or somethin.

I was rooting for Cotto and I still think it was a bit premature. Possibly 30seconds premature. Zab wasn't answering back but he was atleast moving a little.
However to be fair to the referee if the fight was closer and if Zab wasn't getting such a beating the last few rounds I think the referee would've gave him more time.
The stoppage was premature but merciful.
