no I dont think floyd would of beat a prime de la hoya, but I still never thought oscar was something special.
Would Floyd Mayweather Defeat a Prime De La Hoya?

Again, why do people keep saying this and dont aknowledge the huge weight advantage? Its not like Oscar is past his prime and there the same exact size. What about Sweet Pea being past his prime and Oscar being much bigger but alot of people still think he lost. You have to remember that Floyd only had 2 fights at 147 and this was his 1st fight at 154. Oscar outweighed him by 20 pounds and everyone thinks that Floyd should still be at 147. Oscar even fought at 160. Its such a joke for people to keep saying this.
It wasnt that long ago where Floyd was heavily outweighed by Chico & Castillo and since then Floyd had went way past them in terms of weight classes despite everyone knowing that both of those guys are really bigger then him. What he did against Oscar is amazing. Oscar would still beat a ton of guys out there. He just killed Mayorga. Dissing Floyd's win is ******.
You dont think Floyd would beat a prime Oscar who struggled with a bunch of guys?Comment

Noones saying DLH would have toyed with him. I think it would be a tough fight again, with DLH pinching it instead of PBF.Comment

Anyway, De La Hoya used to fight at welterweight in his prime, and he started out at lightweight just like Mayweather, so he's not really bigger at all! As Floyd is getting older and filling out he's moving up the weight classes just like a lot of boxers do.Last edited by Steelhammer86; 06-09-2007, 07:08 PM.Comment

But Shannon Briggs had a 52 pound weight advantage over Sultan Ibragimov last Saturday, and still lost rather convincingly. Size is more important in sex than in boxing.

Was Mayweather really only 50 pounds and DLH 150 pounds, or did they both weigh in at just under 154 (light middleweight)?Comment

Seeing as how both shane mosley and pernell whitaker gave him the fights of his life, there is no reason to suggest floyd wouldnt do the same. DLH in his prime wouldnt be fighting at 154, he would be at 147, which makes it even worse for him. There is nothing to suggest that Floyd wouldnt beat him at a weight that suits him even better.Comment
