and, anybody that thinks taylor is gonna knock pavlik out, come on, taylor couldn't knock out Ouma, a real junior middleweight. pavlik took miranda's best shots and kept coming. taylor will have no answers for pavlik in the fight but lots of excuses after he loses the belts
Jermain Taylor vs. Kelly Pavlik on For 9/29?

Taylor's got a solid edge in handspeed, as well an edge in skill
- heart is the big question.
My feeling is Pavlik on this one.
I think the going will be tough in this one from the opening, & get tougher as it goes on.
Will Taylor really dig down, use his edge in hand speed & fight, or try to turn it into a hugfest while fighting in spurts.
My feeling is the latter, & it won't be enough with Pavlik, whose just as big as Taylor so Taylor won't be able to muscle him in a clinch, & will just keep punching.
Hope it comes off, because it looks like being a good match either way.Comment

Obviously you cannot read beyond the level of a second grader if you were not so much of a ***** you would have "read" the text and understood that it was intended to be sarcastic which it even states in the post. (The joke was just that, Taylor has been fighting junior middleweights and not middleweights) I realize he is one of the middleweight champions. if you could maybe read the post again after you stop pms'ing then maybe you too would understand jackassLast edited by Riptor; 06-09-2007, 07:08 AM.Comment

Deal for Taylor vs. Pavlik imminent?
From ESPN.com:
Taylor-Pavlik fight in cards for fall
NEW YORK -- Less than an hour after Jermain Taylor retained the undisputed middleweight world championship with a split decision against Cory Spinks on May 19, the subject quickly turned to whether Taylor would fight big puncher Kelly Pavlik.
Pavlik, after all, had scored a huge seventh-round knockout against Edison Miranda on the undercard in what is a candidate for Fight of the Year, to become Taylor's mandatory challenger both in a sanctioning organization and in the court of public opinion.
When pressed about fighting Pavlik (31-0, 28 KOs), Taylor's answer was simple: "I'll fight him. Yes, I will fight him. We just got to get the money right."
It looks as though the money is right.
Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella, and Pavlik's promoter, Bob Arum, both told ESPN.com that they have hammered out a deal in principle for the fight to take place this fall. HBO's working date is Sept. 29. Although the promoters are on the same page, DiBella still needs to finalize his own deal with Taylor.
"Bob and I basically have a deal. We have no major terms we are fighting over and I believe it will get done," DiBella said. "Bob and I have always been able to get things done. But there are discussions I need to have with my side and with HBO, and the HBO things are not related to money. I haven't fully talked to my fighter or [Taylor adviser] Al Haymon yet, but I know for a fact that Jermain wants the fight and Haymon isn't opposed to it."
The promoters were happy that HBO's offer for the fight of almost $5 million -- well above the figure the network is obligated to pay under its exclusive contract with Taylor -- was generous enough to keep the fight off pay-per-view. Arum credited HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg with coming up with the money. Said DiBella: "HBO came with a fair offer and Bob has postured fairly, so the combination of the two things mean there is no reason a deal shouldn't get done. I just have to talk things through with Jermain, who has been on vacation, and with Al. But we're looking for a site. I believe it will happen in September and after Jermain wins, he will come back and fight again in December."
Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KOs) has been criticized for recent uneven performances and for fighting Spinks and Kassim Ouma, two junior middleweights moving up in weight, in his previous two bouts. That isn't the case with Pavlik, an authentic middleweight with power and skills.
"I think it's a great fight. I love Pavlik. He's earned the shot," DiBella said. "The winner of Pavlik-Miranda deserved the shot. Pavlik went in there and proved it decisively. He is the legitimate No. 1 contender. He's the best middleweight who is not the champion and he deserves the shot, and Jermain wants to fight him. Jermain is pumped for the fight.
"All the people who want to criticize Jermain can do that for how he's looked in certain fights, but you can't ever say he ducked any opponent."
There will be a rematch clause for Taylor in the contract, according to both sides.Comment

listen, Taylor has gotten lucky lately. When he fought Winky Wright, we all know he lost that fight but it came out as a draw. When he fought Cory he should have lost according to the numbers, but he won. I don't like Cory Spinks style cause he was basically running the whole fight and wouldnt trade punches with Jermain but i still say he won that fight even though he ran most of the time. Pavlik/Taylor should be a good fight we'll have to wait and see.Comment
