DLH- Mayweather was an attempted fix imo, i stand by that as well, the cards were a little to close, one round the other way by roth and we would have had a convieniant controversial draw which would mean a big money rematch would have to happen.
Has anyone been aware of a "fixed" fight in boxing??

It's not how many bet on it, it's how much money is bet. If just a few high rollers bet on a fight with little action, the odds can have a large shift.Comment

For George Foreman to defend his title against Axel Schulz, Arum had to pay the regular IBF sanctioning fee plus an extra $100 000 under the table. Schulz went on to dominate the fight yet Foreman won by a Majority decision. When the promoter of Schulz (Cedric Kushner) pushed for a rematch, he was told by the IBF that it could happen for, you guessed it $100 000. Kushner agreed to pay it but Foreman refused the rematch, he was stripped of his title and Kusher was out 100 G’s.Comment

Yep, that's a good way to see where the wise guys are putting their big money. I recall some of Golota's su****ious fights, the odds changing radically at the last minute.

There have been fixed matches but I don't think they're anywhere near as common as some of you are suggesting. More often the cheating takes the form of drugging fighters, using banned diuretics and blood transfusions so they can make weight, trainers loading gloves, referees being pressurised and maybe paid... SOme of the fights you are saying were fixed, it doesn't make sense. Why would you fix a fight against obviously inferior opposition? Fixing fights is primarily related to ********. You fix the fight so the favourite takes a dive, like LaMotta did against Fox. You don't fix it so the underdog takes a dive, what's the point?
And don't forget all the crooked judges - Don King's friends and relations and employees. The gangsters who are intimately mixed up with boxing like to gamble, but they don't like to lose. It's easier to fix it so that your man is careful not to win than it is to fix it so that the other man loses. Some boxers are good actors, some aren't.

A LOT of the most su****ious fights have had odds that changed quickly at the last minute in favor of the boxer that eventually won. I'd like to know how the odds looked for those two Liston-Clay things. Clay, endlessly hyped by the media, had a lot of very crooked fights.

Really, **** i gotta watch that again, great observation.I think ref Zack Clayton reached the count of ten but commentator KFC Colonel Bob Sheridan was behind him in counting and was at 8.
Ali's corner had even come to Clayton earlier with money and told him to stop it if Ali was taking a horrible beating but wouldn't quit.
Foreman was mentally messed up for awhile after Zaire and is still making excuses for his loss and ****** perfomance.Comment
