          Ali vs. Liston 2

The fight that prompted this classic sports photo, was a source of great controversy. The immediate knee-jerk reaction following the KO of Sonny Liston is that he took a dive. The perception (true or false) that he hung-out with underworld types did nothing to enhance his credebility. But after repeated slow motion replays showed that Sonny took quite a sock to the jaw, it was eventually and grudgingly accepted that the the bout's outcome was legit.

guys like seldon and etienne couldn’t take a punch anyway, seldon went down like audley harrison when he was in against bowe, i just think that these 2 guys where just glass chin. although there have been many fights over the years that have been fixed, there should be an independent commission that fine or ban judges, promoters etc who are involved in this sort of thing.

I don't think Tyson vs Ettiene was even su****ious. Tyson landed a beatiful right hand on the chin. Would have knocked out 99% of heavy weights.

There have been fixed matches but I don't think they're anywhere near as common as some of you are suggesting. More often the cheating takes the form of drugging fighters, using banned diuretics and blood transfusions so they can make weight, trainers loading gloves, referees being pressurised and maybe paid... SOme of the fights you are saying were fixed, it doesn't make sense. Why would you fix a fight against obviously inferior opposition? Fixing fights is primarily related to ********. You fix the fight so the favourite takes a dive, like LaMotta did against Fox. You don't fix it so the underdog takes a dive, what's the point?

Good point squealpiggy, the only candidates for this are upsets.

No way Tyson's fights were fixed.
