The problem is that he always lost to the best.....which makes him a good boxer but no way near great....

he loses but not without controversy usually. By the standards of the PBF fight, he beat mosley and tito, and by the mosley fight standards he beat mayweather.

There have also been times when he's won with controversy. That is why some, including myself, wouldn't consider him a great fighter compared with other greats.

I will admit, I've never been a big DLH fan but the guy is a hall of fame fighter. I don't remember him really ducking anyone. That being said, I do think he is a little overrated considering all of his losses came in the biggest fights of his career. But in keeping with this thread's original content, he has always stepped up to take on the best.

I think De La Hoya is a hall of famer. Along with Floyd.

Margarito and Williams may not be top fighters but the fans want to see it anyways, and fans are what really matters the most in the sport

You can make whatever arguements against him but you can not deny he did face the best fighters in his career and has always been fighting the best.
Just say this, hes fought over 20 titlist in his career, which also include Paez, Leija, Ruelas, a prime Miguel Angel Gonzales, Carr and other noteworthyfighters at the time
