Its a safe as houses fight today. If he had fought Brewster a couple of years ago when Brewster was winning that would maybe be dangerous. If he had gone straight to a rematch then maybe dangerous. But waiting until he looks vulnrable doesnt equate to much. What next, a world title shot for Ross Puritty, hell why didnt he offer Peter a shot which woud have let his brother fight Maskaev!!!!! After all, didnt Wlad claim it wasnt Brewster that beat him but some mysterious condition! so hows he being couragous for taking this fight.

You raise a good point, but unfortunately, there really isnt anyone for him to fight. Austin was a mandatory and Don King will not allow anyone to unify the belts until Wladimir loses. Who should he fight??

avenging a loss is something every fighter that has tasted defeat wants to get back. and it is a real test to overcome someone or something that has given you a temporary defeat....................and i think that it's a good time to pick a fight with brewster coming off a loss and a long layoff, that most definatly benefits wlad. brewster is still dangerous but in a vulnerable state at this moment.

your clearly not too bright. the retina problem was fixed with surgery. his eye is fine and he's going to have the same things he had going for him in there last meeting. heart and power. peter was already beaten by wlad and is getting a title shot against maskeav. rahman and toney are both coming off losses and the other champs have fights lined up. give wlad credit for taking on the most dangerous opponent available. who else would you rather see him fight this summer?

hello? anyone home? don king was brews promoter back then and according to him and brew "wlad didnt deserve a rematch". so it couldnt happen. why the hell would he offer peter a rematch fool? he already beat peter and peter wants maskeav,,,,,him and his team want no part of wlad right now. your clearly either a wlad hater or a moron, which one is it?

              Best Opponent for Wlad

Brewster's eye is healed, and he's healthy and well-rested. Lamon is the most dangerous opponent available for Wlad, and probably the only heavyweight that has a reasonable chance of beating him right now.

Lyakhovich was inactive due to injury for a longer time (well over a year) before he fought Brewster, but it didn't adversely affect him, since he fought very well and won. Lamon could have taken a tune-up fight in May, and come off a win to fight Wlad. But obviously he thought he didn't need it.

Brewster will be at his best on July 7. I don't want to read anymore BS from the Wlad haters about Brewster's eye injury and layoff.

lol,,,,,yea the haters are hilarious. they act as if brew has been out for 5 years and lost his eye ball. hell,,,,,ray leonard had a repaired retina and went on to beat hagler after how many years off? and this was 20 yrs ago when many injuries were career enders. corrie sanders had fought only 3 rounds in the last 3 years before he stopped wlad. wlad deserves credit for taking this fight and deserves a lot more if he avenges that fluke loss. stylistically brewster is the most dangerous guy wlad could have picked thats available to fight. end of story

Does anyone know who will train Brewster this time? Is he still with Buddy McGirt by any chance?

leonard's win over hagler is quite debatable. why do you think marvin retired?

anyways, i do agree that brewster is a dangerous opponent. however, i cannot get over how easily he was pummled when he fought wladimir the first time. luckily for brewster, something unexplainable happened to wladimir in brewster's favor. this time, it will be different i imagine.

yea,,,Im not sure sugar ray won that fight either. probably should have been a draw if anything. my point was that a surgically repaired torn retina isnt a career ender by any means
