I dont expect to look in the mirror and see Frank Warren or Don King.

I dont like either of them and agree that they are dreadful promoters, I've long wished that Calzaghe would move. I truly believe that he wants and would win the big fights and I understand that Warren might not be trying to put him in them, but I cant blame Joe for that. Warren is all he knows.

At least Warren is chasing the fight. What are Taylor's promoters doing? As far as I can see, they are only rejecting. There have been no counter offers from Taylor's people, no negotiations. I'd imagine that most offers Taylor would come up with, Calzaghe would accept unless the money wasnt right. Of course WARREN wants it in England, he makes more money from it if its in England. As far as I have seen, it looks like Taylor will likely refuse Calzaghe, make no counter offer and then take a crap mandatory/contender as his next fight. Surely thats worth than just making a bad initial offer.
The reason they're turning this down, aside from the money being short, is that Taylor is already committed to two fights. First, the Spinks fight in May. After that, he has to fight the winner of Miranda-Pavlik which will be his mandatory anyway. There's a reason both those fights are happening on the same card. Taylor is already committed through the summer.

With Hopkins and Wright both fighting in July, the only viable opponent left is Kessler. Why doesn't Warren actually try to negotiate with Kessler, like you expect Taylor to? All he did was issue an ultimatum to Kessler's team. When they turned it down, he went straight for Taylor rather than trying to sit down and hammer out a deal with Kessler...

This offer IMO has nothing to do with Taylor, he's not going to fight Taylor. This is simply a negotiating ploy to get Kessler.

Sin - that article you've got in your sig about Maccarinelli vs Gunn absolutely hits the mark. It was pathetic, and was from the day it was signed.

Is this really true or is it the Warren media men blowing smoke up our arses, why does he want to fight a blown up middle weight is it easier to fight Taylor, Hopkins than Kessler or Froch.
It's about time people woke up to what Wank Warren is shoveling.
outside the uk he is a nobody, and inside the UK he is a bully boy who after pushing out Barry Hearn tried to shutout everyone else.

Every Warren fighter who was on the under card of the Calzaghe fight won, talk about hand picking fighters.

Too right, mate. Warren's a joke and this last weekend just goes to show it. The only competetive fight on the entire card was Takaloo vs Jennings, and that's a small hall/leisure centre type fight. I turned up early to make sure I saw it and then had to sit through hours of **** until I watched the **** main event followed by an enternaining but competetively **** fight involving Gary Lockett.

It was disgraceful. I hope it never happens again.

I'm not sure that I agree with you there. There is absolutely no doubt that a Calzaghe fight would be happily seen as a replacement for a mandatory. Why dont the Taylor camp offer another date, rather than a flat refusal. Warren (and I DO NOT like the guy) is at least showing to be making some kind of negotiation. He has raised his offer a couple of times over the last few days. I'm hearing no counter offer in the other direction.

Warren said after the Calzaghe vs Manfredo fight that he'd be making an offer to Kessler (which he did) and that he'd sent an offer to Jermaine Taylor a couple of days ago. So I dont think its the case where he has simply changed directions.

It seems to me that the Kessler negotiations are on-going. I really hope that the pressure for the Kessler fight becomes too good for either fight to penny-pinch over.

Actually, Taylor and Hopkins are both bigger naturally than Calzaghe. All 3 are really natural LHW's and similar in size, same as Kessler and Froch, it's just about who can keep the weight down and fight underweight the best- and Taylor can do it, Hopkins did it for a long time, and Calzaghe has been doing it as well. Hopkins seemed to get better by moving up to his natural weight. Same might be true for Calzaghe. Taylor will move up within the next year or two anyway, I'm sure of that.

It's not a serious offer if Warren only wantss to make it a July date. No matter how much money, he would never get it.
Calzaghe wants 6 months before fighting Hopkins at 175, how could he expect Taylor to move to 168, recover from a fight and be ready to fight anytime soon? McDonalds alone won’t do the trick.
The funny thing is, Calzaghe won’t be fighting anyone in July, I would bet every point on it.

Calzaghe is proabably not the biggest fight to be made for Taylor. A Wright rematch ... could be bigger in the US.
The last fight between Winky and Jermaine was a snorefest. I wouldn't want to be subjected to that again.
