Lucky punch my ass, mundine=overrated

You can come at calzaghe for taking that crappy fighter manfredo, but his record proves he is the best smw on who has fought. And most have dodge calzaghe his whole career, but now all of a sudden everyone calls calzaghe out. What a ****ing joke
First of all, Calzaghe and Kessler are the two top SMW in the world. There is no reason for Frank Warren to disrespect Kessler with an offer to fight in JC's back yard for less than 20% of what Calzaghe is going to earn. Shiiiit, if they fit 35K people in to watch Joe fight Manfredo, how many do you think will watch him against Kessler? I think a 45-55 split in favor of Calzaghe is fair. Anything less than that and FW is just pricing his fighter out, just like he does with all his protected fighters.

Also, Calzaghe is the poster boy for a fighter ducking those in his division. Why didn't Joe ever fight Mundine, Siaca, Echols, Ottke, Clinton Woods, Glen Johnson, or Roy Jones Jr? All these fighters were contenders/champions in Joe's weight class (Roy was at 175 but offered to come down and fight him a few times). Hmmmm.

This thread is quite amusing. Since when did Palle become anything more than another loud-mouth, ****-talking promoter a la Warren? It's a bit like argguing which type of cancer is more appealing.
You're right, Palle's not much better than Warren (although ANYBODY is better than Warren).

You forget something. Kessler is not a number 1 contender, he's the WBC/WBA champion. If Calzaghe/Warren really wanted the fight, they'd make a realistic offer, and you KNOW it.

Yeah, Calzaghe calls out everybody, and fights no one. I bet he offered RJJ 20% of the purse as well. Go figure why the fight never materialized.

Belts don't mean **** any more. Kessler is the #1 contender for the SMW crown - that is indisputable.

I don't know how much you think a total purse would be for Calzaghe-Kessler in London but $1.75m isn't going to be that far shy of 50%. It'd certainly generate far less revenue than Taylor, Hopkins or Wright would so it's pretty effin obvious why they're offering more for Taylor.

If you wake up and look at the facts for a second, you'd see that they're offering Taylor short money as well. $3 million, when he made 7 agains Ouma???
Kessler can make 1.75 fighting anyone, so a big unification match should generate a lot more money. CLEARLY Warren is bidding well below acceptable to any real opponent, so Calzaghe can fight another Manfredo type opponent, while claiming people are ducking him. It's the blueprint of his whole career, minus Lacy (who he did get to come to UK).

If you woke up and smelt the coffee for a second, you would realise that whilst Kessler could no doubt make similar money packing out a stadium in Copenhagen (I won't comment on your Taylor figures as they seem to be going up by the post), he'll be getting pretty much all the purse when he fights mexican road sweepers. Any fight between Calzaghe-Kessler would have to match the demands of both fighters and I doubt a Warren fight in London between the two would generate much more than twice what it would generate in Danmark.

There's some awful hypocracy being spouted here. We all want to see the top fighters meet but it seems one fighter gets criticised for fighting in his biggest market thus getting the biggest paydays whilst it's seen as a virtue for another one to do the same thing.

Its Calzaghe himself talking about how much he wants to fight in the US, in fact, isn't it on his webpage?.. Yet again, the offer is to fight Taylor in London. Why is that?

How did Inkin get to be so interesting?
