i agree, joe doesnt have hardly any one punch power. but when you can throw killer combinations like he does, that means little, look at the beating he gave lacy with his '***** slaps' or as manfredo says 'pitty pat amateur punches'

very inaccurate and many blocked.. he got way too over anxious throwing sloppy punches.. he looked like an amateur kinda. the ref rose to the occasion.

This was a terrible stoppage. One of the worst if not the worst stoppage I have ever seen.Yes I believe as many others the stoppage would have came sooner or later. The first time I saw Calzaghe fight was his ko win over Byron Mitchell.A terrible stoppage after JC had been dropped for the first time and imo Mitchell was not hurt enough to be stopped and now the last fight that I have seen of JC ended in a terrible stoppage.Yes it was a one sided fight in favor of Calzaghe but how do we know that Manfredo couldn't have turned the fight around in the last half of the fight. The truth is I almost sure JC would have stopped him in fact maybe in the next round or two but the ref not only robbed Manfredo of chance to turn things around but more likely of an outstanding Calzaghe performance.I'm not a big fan of Calzaghe. In fact I borderline hate the guy.Jeff Lacy was one of my favorite fighters because even though he was flawed and any real fan knew that before the JC fight. The flaws made me like him even more because of his flaws he could have a fight with a rock and make it fun to watch. He got hit too much but getting hit bothered him less than hitting his opponet. That is beside the point this fight should have been for him to showcase all the skills that he beat Lacy with but this time get the ko.

I disagree with the above poster. Byron Mitchell was a fair stoppage because byron mitchell stopped throwing back and had poor defense when calzaghe was landing almost all his shots. Then right at the stoppage we see bryon mitchel forcefully with all his body weight fall back into the ropes like he was done with when calzaghe kept coming forward. Compaing this fight to the mitchell fight is ****ing ridiculous. This was a terrible stoppage mitchells wasn't a bad stoppage at all. Maybe I shouldn't be mad at joe, but I don't know I feel like he had something to do with the manfredo stoppage like winking at the ref or someone giving a sign to the ref... It's like ridiculous he barely landed any punches on manfredo for them to call it.

How can anyone be mad at Calzaghe for the stoppage - even he as good as said it was premature in the interview.

Blame the referee or Manfredo for freezing.

I keep re-watching the fight and noticed that calzaghe threw alot of rabbit punches. Punches to the neck on the side of manfredo... Isn't that considered cheating?

Elitesoldier - do you have any idea what you're talking about?

                "Pulling an Ali"

                "like a young George foreman"

                Drivel.

The fight was a joke as we all thought beforehand. manfredo was outsized outskilled and lied horribly when he says he wasn't hurt by the pitter patter punches. calzaghe throws lots of pitter patter punches but theres the odd genuine power shot mixed up in there.

And i'm not sure why Steward and co are saying that Calzaghe has no power - he's just stopped loading up on as many punches because of his dodgy hands.

Yeah, a 75% KO ratio certainly says that he's got no power. FFS.

He's probably not got the raw KO power he had in the mid-90s but I'd put that down to weight draining as much as dodgy hands.

If it was crap, then why did calzaghe feel the need to fight with dirty tactics? I'm almost 100 percent sure, that punching on the side of the neck is cheating, I don't know the rules to boxing. But I typed in rabbit punching in good search engine, and thats what they call rabbit punching??? So, wouldn't that be cheating? As in getting points deducted kind of cheating? Imagine getting punched in the side of your neck really hard. Thats probably as bad as getting hit in the nutts. You can't breath for a couple of seconds, ya know.

I know manfredo sucks, but if he sucks so bad why fight so dirty if your calzaghe? I didn't see manfredo fighting dirty like that? Find me a screenshot of manfredo punching joe on the side of the neck repeatdly. I can take screenshots of calzaghe doing it to Manfredo all out through the fight. He holds manfredo then throws rabbit punches to his side of the neck. Personally if I punch a guy in the side of the neck, I think I can really hurt them. I'm surprise joe didn't kill him for doing tactics such as that

Theres a distinct difference between rabbit punching and landing to the side/back of the head because someone ducks into your punch. I've watched the fight twice and I didnt' see any rabbit punching, but I'll watch again to check. It's not something I'd expect though.
