Semantics. Besides, what if I was referring to anybody living in Latin America latino. And the issue goes to more things than race, like ethnicity or culture. There are many blacks that live in Latin America for generations, and I would say their race is different than their culture. They've never been to Africa so are they African? If a guy comes to the US and becomes an American citizen after living in, lets say, South Africa all his life and his family lived there for generations would he be considered an African American? What if he was white, since there are many whites there? Point is, there are a lot of bull**** generalized terms out there and I don't what to get into a semantics argument.
