Latinos are people from southern Europe: French, Spaniards and Portuguese.
"Hispanics" are Spaniards, spanish speaking peoples. Technically anyone who speaks spanish can be called a "hispanic" and NO we don't call ourselves "hispanics" in Latin American countries, that is term created by whites.
"Latinos" and "Hispanics" are not races, there are only 3 races and those are : Caucasian, Negroid and Mongaloid. Arabs and Persians are classified under "caucasians" and actually Persians (Iranians) consider themselves the "original Arian nation" and superior to the rest of the world.
I from Mexican Indian desent, I am not Latino nor am I hispanic in race. Those are racist terms that we should not fall for or take pride in. I call myself a Chicano or a Mexica because thats what my blood line is. I am not a latino because Im not European and Im not a hispanic because theres no such thing as a hispanic "RACE". I am a hispanic according to the US census beureau because I speak spanish and they classify me as such.
I'm not trying to degrade you or take away your pride of being a "latino" or "hispanic" but it's time we educate ourselves and understand who we really are and where we came from.Comment

Mexico has the better fighters currently. Im not taking that away from them.
What Im saying is Mexico has almost 100 million more people than Puerto Rico does, and that isnt counting the massive Mexican-American population. So its hard to compare. No matter what you think that DOES matter. How could it not?Comment

No dissrespect to Puerto Rican's but there's no comparison as to who has had the most or better champions, it's Mexico by a landslide.
Granted, Puerto Ricans have had great boxers and the fact that they are from such a small island is very impressive. I think if it wasn't for Fidel Castro's oppression of the people in Cuba, we would see alot more champions from Cuba and we will once he dies.
What most Puerto Rican's just don't get is that they live in a different world than Mexicans, Central or South American's do. Puerto Rican's are born American citizens and have the strength of the American $$$$$ to back them up in life. They can travel freely from PR to the States and get a job, vote or do anything else a naturalized citizen can do.
I am lucky , I am first generation Mexican-American here but I have traveled to Mexico many times and I see how EASY we have it here. Alot Puerto Rican's say how tough PR is and how bad some of the ******s are there but they have no idea what BAD is. Visit a 3rd world country then get back at me when you think you live in a "rough" area..lol.
My point is, Mexican fighters are hungry, no, literaly, HUNGRY. They fight to eat and cross the border illegaly just to make a buck. Alot of times fighting out of weight or with a few days sometimes hours notice. The conditions in some of those gyms in Tijuana or any other border towns is shocking to most Americans. That's where Mexicans get their "toughness" from, their work ethic, their heart. There's a reason Mexican fighters are known for their chin or hard punching, it's the hard life they have to endure that makes them that way.Comment
