You can just quit in the first round of every fight and get paid. Maybe not a mil but you'll still be getting paid.
My whole point exactly, fans paying to see a fight plus how much these boxers are being paid they shouldn't be able to pull a morales or tyson and just quit when ever they want. Morales barely got any punishment to just say i quit. Anyone who says if he contiuned he would have died, is bull****ting to themselves.

If you quit in the first round, they usually uphold your purse.

If a fighter is actually taking a good amount of punishment then I have no problem with it. Like Vasquez whos nose was destroyed, and he couldnt breath.

Thats not really how it works though is it?

Fixing a fight is one thing. The quitters people are having a go at here (the likes of Mosley, Tyson, Duran, McCall) are ones who had long and tough careers or arduous and damaging lives, they quit because either boxing, the fight or their lives were simply too much for them at that time. If you quit a match in that way, the chances are that your purse will be withheld anyway.

You cannot blame a man for deciding that he simply does not want to be hit in the face any more.

Look, I don't mean that guys who quit a fight are heartless. And I am aware they withhold purses. But I take statements at face value, and You stated that you would never criticise a boxer for quitting in a fight. I just used the most extreme example possible to show a counterbalance.

It's ******ed to say guys like Freitas and Tszyu have no heart because they quit their respective fights. But technically quitting in a combat sport is about as low as you can get.

It would be like Tiger Woods saying "Oh **** this, I'm leaving on the 17th hole in the Masters. See you later".

It's a bit ridiculous and unheard of that's why people raise so much controversy.

Why did Chico get knocked down 5 times against Floyd, then turn and scream at everyone for stopping the fight? Heart.
