This is what I thought might happen..

    A series of emotional responses.

Regarding the suggestion at the opening of the thread that Miguel Cotto has never put in performances - what is the consensus?

Watch those early Trinidad fights, those early De La Hoya fights..

    They were obliterating the opposition.

Was Miguel's ascent anythig like that?..

I haven't seen all of his random early fights.

Yes, Cotto obliterated Randall Bailey, made Victoriano Sosa look like a novice, and destoyed fighters like Maussa, Pinto, Ceballos, Bazan, and Jukko. If you can get a hand on those fights, check them out.

No one knows. Could he become one? I think so.

I think he is one of the most entertaining fighters out there already...

He told me he's starting to have doubts about the fight with Zab Judah and he's a little angry with Cotto and his people for taking the fight.

Me personally - I honestly don't know that much about Miguel Cotto..

I just know what I've seen.

I have watched the entire careers of many of today's superstars.

One thing you notice about almost all of them:

At lighter weights, as they were coming up; men like Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Floyd Mayweather, Kostya Tszyu, Shane Mosley and even Arturo Gatti were blowing out the competition.

Early KO's, highlight reel exchanges, and all intensive dominance.

I've seen some of his early fights and some of his most recent - but I am not as familiar with Miguel Cotto.

I know I haven't seen any performances that rate with the men I've mentioned above. But, the man does have a very impressive KO percentage.

Do we have any Miguel Cotto experts here?

Is Miguel Cotto truly the next "Superstar?"
Dude why are you lying about your friend. YOU are the big Cotto hater not your friend. All anyone has to do is look at your history and they'll see you have bashed Cotto every chance you get for whatever reason.

I"m cool with the hating part just dont pawn it off as your "friend" when those are your sentiments.

There is a hgue possibilit that Cotto loses to Zab because Zab is an elite fighter with elite talent, however if Cotto wins he wont get credit from people like you who will still claim it wasn't impressve enough or that he was hurt at some point in the fight so it was not a good win.

Hahaha!!! Yo Mexico, Tito built a career on SOLID wins over real fighters, not like that hero of your Chavez who beat 69 cab drivers and got lucky against meldrick Taylor in the last 10 seconds of that fight. Tito Fought EVERYBODY...PBF has been saying for eyars now "Cotto is toooo green" < BS. MArgarito would get mugged...Hatton????!??? Are you crazy? Hatton gets his face disfigured and goes on to run a Pub somewhere in Seattle. The only real threat to Cotto is PBF. We just don't know how well he will respond to Cotto's body assault.

Mexicans are sooooo MAD at PRs. It's comedy at this point. But, seriously....work on finding somebody for the Mexican killer Pacman. That should be a priority right now.

Coddled? Haha, I gues in Mexico they throw their tough guys into 18 wheelers to make sure they are men. Coddled? Are you 14 years old and just saw your first fight an hour ago?

I like Cotto but I don't see him lasting long in the welterweight division! Maybe if he was fighting at 140 he might become a superstar but I don't see at 147!

How is he not a superstar? You can name the bigger names than him on 1 hand up to 154. De La Hoya Mosely. Hatton is maybe more popular because England is more populous than Peurto Rico. That's about it as far as active fighters are concerned. And Castillo is probably about equivalent.
