But dont get me wrong. I think he COULD do it, and i think its possible he will do it if he fights on. Cause there is so much to his legacy and all-time-great status if he does it.

But im not saying he WILL do it. I think he would get knocked out personally.

Even though Mayweather is the more talented fighter in every regards, Taylor is no slouch. AND he can punch.

It would be a dousey of a fight, and a HUGE superfight. I would love for it to happen

I agree with the idea, and the Taylor people would have NO right to nix the idea on principle. He's been fighting 154lbers his whole career, why not the biggest name at 154 today (assuming he beats Oscar of course).

You know Diabolical L.O.U. will try to convince Oscar to come up one more time for a Taylor fight if he beats PBF (just too much money involved not to try at least), why not coax PBF?

I think PBF wins the fight, too. He'd weigh in at 156 and be 150 on fight night. Taylor, by then, will really be struggling to make 160 and will never catch Floyd. Oscar is much faster than Taylor, I think Oscar has a better chance to beat PBF than Taylor would...imagine that.

I agree with the poster who said if Winky had a belt at 160 PBF would do it. Taylor has the power that would make him think twice...but is his power really that great? He couldn't hurt Ouma...

If mayweather becomes linear middleweight champ and remains undefeated, he will surpass roberto duran for sure.

Bottom line, if PBF wants to be an all-time great (and not just in his mind, but in everybody's mind), this is just the kind of challenge he should take. But I agree with the other poster who pointed out that fights with Hatton, Cotto and Mosley are more realistic and also very significant.

But if he can't make it work financially with Hatton (past problems there), Cotto (Bob Arum would be prominently involved=big problems with PBF) and Mosley (past problems here too), maybe HBO and Lou will offer him a huge purse for the biggest middleweight fight since Hopkins-Trinidad...

Floyd already is an all time great, i can name so many fighters from the old days that are ATGs, but they were never #1 p4p at any point in thier career.

When floyd beats oscar, his resume will compare to that of thomas hearns and aaron pryor. He already surpassed antonio cervantes, wilfred benitez and carmen basilio IMO.

that would be an incredible acheivement. Very risky, but i think he could do it with his defense and all. But a guy that big, with the punch that taylor packs, it could all be over in a single punch
since when was Jermain Taylor a HOFer?

Anyway, it is not necessary for Floyd to fight Jermain Taylor to become a great. Now that someone brought it up, people will be saying Mayweather is ducking Taylor. lol

He has plenty of business at 140-154

He will most likely make it, name 1 linear middleweight champ that has made 2 title defences and isnt in the HOF.

seriously if spinks is gonna go up to 160 to fight taylor there is no reason that floyd shouldnt try... in fact, taylors choices of mora and now spinks indicate he may be possibly trying to get a fight with a quick fighter in anticipation of a matchup with floyd..

floyd vs. jermain would be the 2nd biggest fight moneywise would it not??

floyd doesent give a **** about establishing anything at a certain weight..

why not go after taylor at that point? say what you want about the size difference but floyd would approach jermain the same way he did baldomir its not crazy to think floyd could win 7 rounds and be middleweight champ

then he might have a case for some of the crazy braggadoccia that flys from his mouth
You ****ting me? It's a complete mismatch don't even think about it...
