    Mayweather vs. Taylor Next?

why not?? if floyd beats dlh why wouldnt he give it a shot?

seriously if spinks is gonna go up to 160 to fight taylor there is no reason that floyd shouldnt try... in fact, taylors choices of mora and now spinks indicate he may be possibly trying to get a fight with a quick fighter in anticipation of a matchup with floyd..

floyd vs. jermain would be the 2nd biggest fight moneywise would it not??

floyd doesent give a **** about establishing anything at a certain weight..

why not go after taylor at that point? say what you want about the size difference but floyd would approach jermain the same way he did baldomir its not crazy to think floyd could win 7 rounds and be middleweight champ

then he might have a case for some of the crazy braggadoccia that flys from his mouth

I think that would be insane... Taylor is way too big... If Floyd went to middleweight, it wouldn't be to fight a guy like Taylor... It would be a very carefully picked opponent like Ruiz for RJJr...

That would be crazy for Floyd to do that. As far as Spinks goes Jermain is gonna demolish him. Cory will be running for his life.

and you got the speed and stamina issue Floyd got to move with the extra wieght he is carrying which is unnatrual for him and Taylor would come like 175 and LHW and maybe Floyd will most come at 157

if winky wright had a title i dont think floyd would even think twice before fighting winky at 160.... yeah taylor is another story from a physical persepctive... but what other fight is there that matters to him?? or that would anywhere near the historical signifiacnce?

            Hatton is an important fight.

Mosley would be an important fight at 147 or 154.

            Margarito is an important fight

            Cotto is an important fight.

Floyd has many avenues to pursue.

Taylor at 160 is surely one step too far.

if u remember Roberto Duran, who was one of the greatest fighters of the lower divisions, mainly lightweight. He was fighting for Middleweight titles and succeeding at doing so.

IF mayweather could fight at that weight, and beat the Middleweight champ and another hall of famer in Jermain Taylor, then Mayweather would be a top 10 p4p of all time in my eyes.

that would be an incredible acheivement. Very risky, but i think he could do it with his defense and all. But a guy that big, with the punch that taylor packs, it could all be over in a single punch

Duran was about as tough as they come and he took a LOT of punishment from a hard puncher in his middleweight title winning effort. Barkley was a bigger, stronger guy than Taylor overall, but he was more of a crude slugger. Taylor has the athleticism to match Floyd and the power difference would just be WAY too much for Floyd to handle. It'd be a respectable, ambitious move for Floyd, but he'd end up in bad shape within a few rounds time.

In this case and this day and age, I don't think it's conceivable that Floyd takes 7 rounds off Taylor. I don't think it's conceivable that little Floyd would even see the distance.

Well firstly. I think its very conceivable, that IF the fight goes the distance, floyd wins. He is the far more talented fighter in every single aspect of the game, except power.

BUT, obviously there's the chance that he could not make it the distance. But if anytime is the time to try for it, it would be now. He is in his prime, and he has jumped up in weight every few fights so he is kinda used to it.

And as good a defense as Duran Had, and he had a great defense that is very often overlooked, he had that brawlers heart. WHich is why he got nailed so often against Barkley.

Mayweather is a boxer all the way. He'll keep his distance and pick his spots. He doesnt have the brawlers heart, so there is no way he gets into a brawl with taylor. He is also a very disaplined fighter.
