im not jumping on this idiot bandwagon either
a week ago 99 percent of the forum said evander should hang em up
now 50 percent is trying to rationalize how he is gonna win his next title
what a joke....
put evander in with shannon briggs and hes gonna get murdered and then the same people who picked holyfield wont give briggs any credit cause obviously "holyfield wasnt the same guy who fought maddalone"
FYI people: Julius Long whooped Maddalones ass before Holyfield ever did... yes the same julius long who took a fall against sam peter 2 minutes into the fight... yes the same julius long who doesent know a boxing ring from a basketball courtComment

People seem to love to root for Evander. He probably took Steroids- they can look past it. He is quite old for a boxer- people can ignore it. Now he looks good against limited opposition- and people are calling for him to be champion. The division is weak, sure, but I highly doubt any of these younger, hard hitting fighters would have a problem with Holyfied. He'd be fodder for Klitschko or Briggs in my eyes- I can't see the basis for him getting a title shot, anyway. We need unification not an old man wasting the time between mandatories so nothing gets accomplished.Comment

at his point holyfield physical abilities are constantly on the decline, its a simple fact of human genetics...... maybe if he is taking steroids he can keep an equilibrium... but he is not getting better.. he wont be getting better.. and hes not good enough right now to beat a top ten heavyweightComment

I get what your saying but i dont really think anyone is too delusional about Holy's chances, its just that people love to root for the underdogs, that and holyfield is a ****ing legend. He did look sharp in this fight so it seems to be a glimmer of hope. He'd be a clear underdog against anyone of the belt holders but against Briggs he may have a chance.People seem to love to root for Evander. He probably took Steroids- they can look past it. If a overweight unactive George Foreman can do it then why not a peek shape Holyfield who has always stayed active.Comment

So Evander has hung with a top 15 heavyweight. He did not demolish him. He did not make him look silly. He did not dominate and humiliate him- he hung with him. He had a solid fight. Then he knocked out Madalone- a guy who was KOed twice by Brian Minto. Umm...so are we saying Minto is ready to be champion? He did the same thing Evander did, maybe it took him a bit longer, but why dismiss him?? Madalone is not the yardstick of champions. Not at all.
Evander looked sharp. Good. If you really want to root for him have him fight another legitimate heavyweight- but not a champion. Have him fight a Brock or even a McCline- see where he stands now. Beating Madalone does not make him ready for a championship. That's overboard. Do you really think he's ready to step up with Briggs? Really? I have to disagree.Comment
