He obviously does not think Taylor can do the same, and from the sound of it, doesnt think he is a great champion.

Agree with him or not, his 'passing of the torch' is saying he thinks Miranda can do what he did and win and HOLD the title for many many years. JT may have gotten the belts, but he dosent have the torch!
    Right.
But why didnt he just say "Edison Miranda is the future of the Middleweight Division"?
Ill tell you why, because he still wants to promote himself as well.

the reason I think this is bull**** is because its a jab at taylor, whose both losses Hopkins STILL cant get over.
So he passes the torch to an unproven powerful guy with mininmal technical skills or defense who doesnt hold a world title.

Hopkins gave Emmanuel Steward his blessings for Taylor after the Tarver fight, but I think he just isn't feeling Taylor's questionable performances of late.

            Dude.

He is one of the greatest Middleweights of all time, and he's retiring from fighting in the MW division. Are you denying the basic fact he was the Undisputed and best middleweight in the world and defended the title 20 times?

That's a torch. He thinks Miranda is going to take over the division like He did. Taylor is just a belt holder and is not the future of the division.

[QUOTE=SquareCircle;2221896]kay...taylor didn't really 'beat' hopkins the way you're supposed to beat a champion. You could say Taylor beat Hopkins...You could also say a raisin is a fruit... taylor received more damage in each bout from hopkins than he applied to hopkins in both bouts combined, and was given gift decisions due to his aggression, youth, and 'good ole boy, yessa massa' attitude. hopkins, a 40+ year old man actually had taylor hanging on for dear life in survival mode.

              i agree with you here..............

[QUOTE=SquareCircle;2221889]hopkins knows that if he were to have fought miranda instead of tarver, he would have lost. and he respects it.

not so much here though. hopkins was and is far too skilled for a guy like miranda especially at this point in miranda's career, miranda is still learning on the job and if he gets the right tuteledge miranda will be a great a champion. he is still green and needs to tighten up somethings in his aresenal, but that will come with more experience and the right guidance......

Wow just wow! There was a reason I created the name Bitchkins for Bitchnard. Hopkins has no torch to pass to anybody, Taylor took the torch from him and 2 years later he's still bitching about Taylor.

Hopkins can pass the torch up Miranda's ass and it want change anything!

Actually I am going to deny that. Not the part about him being the best middleweight in the world, but he did not defend the undisputed middleweight championship of the world 20 times. He wasn't the actual undisputed middleweight champion until he beat Trinidad. Winning a vacant IBF championship in a bout with Sergio Mercudo does not count as being undisputed linear champion, and this is the belt that he defended 20 times.

I think that Taylor is probably moving up to 168 before too long, so maybe then Miranda will end up being middleweight champ.

But aren't we forgetting that Miranda recently lost to Arthur Abraham? What about that? Does that not count since he broke Abraham's jaw?
