cheers Hydro, good info, I didn't follow boxing back in those days so its hard to know what was really happening beyond the actual belts switching hands.

So its only 135 that is dodgy, and of course 160 where he didn't do anything of note apart from get an absolute gift against Sturm.

      130 also.

Oscar fought two times at 130, one of them winning the WBO belt from Jimmy Bredahl.

The other was a rise-from-the-canvas stoppage win over Campanella.

I give him credit for Castillo. That's the 2nd best fighter he's ever faced. But I don't agree with him saying Castillo is higher P4P than he is.

Also, I don't see why he refuses to give Collazo credit for giving him a tough fight because Hatton moved up in weight, yet expects to receive credit when he faces a smaller man...

When did he not give Collazo credit?

He said that he was a tough fight and that he hurt him.

How often do other boxers say such things?

He doesnt feel as effective at 147 as he did at 140 but that is not to say he couldnt beat the guys at 147. If he stayed at 147, Cotto was not garunteed to box Hatton anyway and fights are notoriously hard to get and make, and Hatton moving down doesnt effect the fight from happening if there are calls for it to happen.
Name the weight, date and arena and Hatton will turn up there. And you still think castillo is smaller than Hatton? They are the same size. PBF started at 130 or so but you dont call him smaller than Hatton.

He retired AFTER the loss, not before it. Who are you to say that the beating Hatton gave him didnt make him 'QUIT THE SPORT'?

              Nobody.
That fight was pretty close and Zoo totally quit, it was hardly a beating.
It was a clinchfest that Zoo couldnt handle, so he quit.
Hes taken more punishment than that before, but the he quit the sport because he didnt have it anymore.
He knew that when he lost to a guy like Hatton, a good fighter with good heart, he wasnt on the top of his game.

I agree, and those were good things to say.
But at the same time, he also promised a rematch, and we know what happened there.

Actually if you look back I supported the possibility of him fighting Spinks, although I agree many of the guys on here were giving PBF **** about that.

Anyway PBF is an ATG and 3 division champ (what an achievement that is), and Hatton is P4P 8-10, but stop making threads about it!
If Ricky Hatton didnt continually bring up Floyd in every interview he did, and how Floyds not tough and how Hatton could beat him and how theres tougher fighters out there etc etc, threads like this wouldnt need to be made.

Do me a favour mate. Its equally as likely to say that Hatton MADE him quit.

And to be fair, I used to really like Ricky, the way he conducted himself with class inside the ring and out, and his fighting style. I even went to his fight against Collazo in Boston.
But that being said, latley hes changed his style, and starting talking **** about fighters like Floyd Mayweather, and that really turned me off to him.
