Who's the most over-rated fighter of all time ?

I know im going to get crap for this...but Jack Dempsey. As for his ability in the ring, I wont go there, because I simply have not seen enough of him I think, so I wont go there.

But I think his record and career is a bit overrated. He defended his title 6 times over 7 years as a champion...and from what I heard, refused to fight black fighters, although Ill admit right away I dont know if there were any deserving of a title shot or not...and his overall record really doesnt look all that impressive on paper...

i wont touch on his skills, cause like i said, i dont really know enough...but I think he could have made a lot more of his career to get all of the respect and fame he does now. I think a lot of it was mostly that he was so big outside the ring.

I'm not really a jack dempsey hater, but he fits the overrated category for sure. His resume doesnt equal top 25 p4p of all times, his legacy is, but not the resume.

Actually Dempsey had nothing against fighting black fighters- he fought and knocked out several. It was mainly only Langford that he dodged, at advice from Tex Rickard. Once he got the title, Tex and the whole boxing establishment wanted no blacks to get title shots. Actually, there were not many top black heavies during Dempsey's reign, believe it or not. There was Langford and Wills, a couple others. All the black fighters at that time have Jack Johnson to blame for that discrimination. Johnson was such a thorn in the side of the boxing world for so long- fighting in a defensive style, picking on lesser heavies and embarassing them on purpose, by dragging out fights to humiliate them- that most of the general public and the boxing world were just over black heavies at the time. And of course, Johnson himself wanted nothing to do with black heavyweights EITHER. He avoided them far more than Dempsey did, something Johnson always gets a pass on, not sure why.

Probably not the most overrated of all time but De La Hoya is definitely overrated. Never had a dominating win against an elite level opponent lost in his prime twice to Shane Mosely who is naturally smaller plus the guy never fights and when he does it's not overly impressing in like the last 6 years.

I also agree with the P4P as being bull****, it is. Heavyweights are the best, plain and simple.
