Marciano didn't fight a decent fighter until his 26th fight and his fourth year as a pro. Everyone else were journeyman and bums. I'd call that protective.

Jack Johnson is definetely not overrated on these forums, that's for sure.

Marciano and Johnson wouldnt cut it against a Lewis a Foreman aTyson or even a Klitchko!
Ur right man, I Really admire Marciano but all the heart in the world cant help u when ur out sized, strengthed, sped and so on! I luv the guy but he just duznt cut it in ALL time rankings for me - too small and too crude!

Hehe. This is really a good thread. Not because it's in any way informative. It's chock full of bull****, misinformation and completely clueless posters. I'd say roughly 90% of the posts in this thread are uninformed and totally asinine.

The reason it's a good thread to save is you can really spot the newb morons on the board by going back and reading this thread. Save it for that reason alone. Essentially anyone who says "Ali" "Leonard" "Lennox" etc, you can simply write off their posts about any part of boxing history as completely meaningless. Especially when they just list a name like "De La Hoya" with no explanation. LOL Genius!!
