The rationale behind the Miranda hype

I just had this thought while pm'ing with Chacono. Do you guys think that the reason HBO is hyping this slugger is to manufacture an opponent for Taylor? And the same could be said for having Pavlik on B.A.D. The producers realized that the Winky fight cast doubt on their star, so they went out and drudged up two guys who can look great against inferior opposition but are guaranteed to be picked apart by a decent fighter. Before the miranda hype we thought Taylor would have to go to 168 for competition, but seeing as either Joe or Kessler would have their way with him, HBO was forced to make it look like there was competition at 160, when in fact there isn't.

    Would you get over it?

He whipped Green's ass last night, a big step up. If that fight would have gone ten seconds longer Green would have been knocked out.

He beat up a promising prospect reinforcing that he's championship material. And yes he's a manufactured opponent.....****ing hell I hope they keep manufacturing them like this.

If you think Allan Green is an inferior opponent, then you have unrealistic expectations of the sport. Maybe Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior are your standards then. Drudged up? What the **** is being drudged up? I'm really sick and tired of people with no respect for the sport. Why don't you fight those guys then? They must suck if they have been drudged up. Kelly Pavlik was one of America's finest amateur champions in the 90s and Miranda was an Olympian with a 128-4 record. Drudge those facts up.

You're right I'm sorry. But Taylor is the real ***el at HBO, no? So you're saying they're just playing the spread bet (if Taylor loses they've already built the audience for the new champ), rather than refusing to risk JT by building his opponents.

Really I'm just pissed that Taylor - Calzaghe won't happen because there is too much excitement at middleweight. No one is even demanding this fight anymore, and we might be stuck with Calzaghe -- Hopkins instead.

Winkster is the best middleweight, Taylor holds the belts. Of course Taylor is HBO's darling.

I think Miranda would beat Taylor if they fought. He fights more actively, and has a bigger punch than anyone Taylor has ever faced.

However I think Wink just would toy with both guys and Taylor again.

Maybe. He's not really 'inferior' but last night he didn't seem to have it in him.

By the way last night I was pulling for a brutal KO by Pantera. I had hyped the fight to friends.

And I really do hate to be negative. I'll compensate by saying that Cotto for me lived up to it, and he should nbt be taking **** on here for his performance.

Did you ever think that maybe Miranda took it out of him, instead of him not having it in him to begin with? It's not easy to get your game going when you have a guy with an 80%+ KO percentage strutting and putting for your skull. Allan Green is a very impressive, commendable fighter and Miranda seperated himself as a superior fighter last night. Give the man his respect. Diminishing such a performance and merit is the equivalent of these guys on the forums claiming that every upset is a fixed fight.

What exactly was Green doing at the end? He kept looking down and shaking his head.
