Calzaghe: "Hopkins Took The Easy Fight in Wright"

It would seem that Calzaghe is claiming that the reason he is fighting Manfredo is because he has tried to make deals with the likes of Bernard Hopkins and they've gone for other opponents. So by fighting someone with a media friendly name and trying to get exposure, he is trying to put himself into a position where the other top guys in the divisions cannot really refuse a fight against Calzaghe, because he is the number 1 as well as being a TV draw.

Well he's trying to get fights over there, isn't he? And he had a Hopkins fight lined up before Hopkins asked for more money.

If he retires having fought no one of note then you'll have a point. Until then I'll believe he has the intention to take big fights with his new found fame (benefit of the doubt, it's called) and you'll carry on saying you've "owned" people (and thinking this is a cool thing to say) and misusing the word irony.

* Fight back after a lay off

* ****ty promo fight for HBO.


I'm not saying that this is a good series of fights, but... no.

I just don't see the point AT ALL. The Blow is stating that he would be more of a challenge to Hop than Winky. That is all. Who Joe has been lumbered with (and he's blatantly said he can't get motivated for Manfredo) is a side issue.

I just don't get why little kids have to try and make some **** out of something that isn't there, and 99% of the time it's with non-US fighters. Joe is OBVIOUSLY trying to call out US fighters, which is what you guys want him to do anyway. But he's getting shot down for that??

are we getting an excuse already???? can't get motivated???? what is he trying to say that his US debut isnt anything to get motivated over??? i hope calzaghe is forced to use that as an excuse after having a ****ty performance . that is one of the lamest things i've ever heard........... so he is either saying that in case he loses or he's saying that meaning manfredo isnt good enough to be fighting him and if that is the case why not have a Promotional Fightwith a bigger better fighter with the same kind of name, or why not make his debut a unification fight with the other guy Kessler, if he(Joe) can't get motivated, what a crock of ****...........
