for everybody who watched i think it would be unanimous that gorres was the better fighter all around. montiel had power which gorres may have lack, but it's gorres' slick style and very good defense that was highlighted that night. many have complained about pacquiao one track fighting style, but z gorres, together with boom boom showed that filipinos are good all around boxers.

montiel won because he had the heart of a champion. but it was a gift decision and any sound, unbiased boxing expert would say it was a fight gorres should have won.

I think you say this because that was your boy and your fillipino, But I do think he put up a good fight but theirs no way he did enough to take the belt from montiel and he got pretty lucky in that 10th round

I'll have to see the fight but Chuck Giampa is a very respected judge and he had it a draw minus the two points, 114-112. As for Raul Caiz, Sr., I think he is one of the best refs out there and he's not bad as a judge, either. I've never seen him be far off from the general consensus. We'll have to see once I see the fight.

you can have that opinion for all you want. it just happened that im filipino so i sound bias. maybe you should watch the fight for you to judge.

im not sour montiel won because i believe he had more heart and he is deserving for showing his guts and hanging on in there. though technically gorres should have taken it.

Let me tell you guys something when i was reading all these posts(mostly by pinoys)That montiel got "schooled"I was very disappointed in montiel so i decided to watch the fight and i got to tell you guys that i honestly dont see what all this fuss is about montiel won it fair and square if gorres would have won then it would definitly been a robbery. Some body please tell me how do you come to the conclusion that he schooled montiel if he wasnt even throwing that many punches much less landing montiel was blocking alot of them.Montiel was the agressor trhoughout the fight landing the most significant shots and almost knocking him out a couple of times and thats what alot of judges look for.Gorres even went down 2 times wich should have been kd so it evens out with the point deductions.I think the pinoy comentators being biased with gorres have alot to do with people thinking gorres got robbed but my honest opinion is he didnt do enough to win.Like i said i dont know how you guys come up with gorres scholling montiel but that word does not describe it at all.On a side note:If the referre wouldnt have taken away the two points it would have been a draw. But montiel won it fair and square and if you dont beleive me i suggest you watch the fight.

Gorres did not school Montiel but he was the more technical fighter. Z was landing more jabs and throwing more punches. Even though Montiel was blocking some of those, Z landed more punches than Montiel. I had it a close decision to Z but with the 2 point dedcutions, its a draw.

As far as the clinching in the 10th and 12th, some members said it should have been a knockdown. Well, in boxing, fighters who get hurt tend to clinch so they would not get knockdown, i don't see any controversy in that. You guys have seen clinching of hurt fighters worse than Z was doing. Even W. Klitschko was clinching Peters and he wans't even hurt, he was landing punches then clinching.

Does anybody know what this site's scorecard of the fight? And others also. I knew of 1 site that scored it 114-112 for Gorres. Too bad the Ring mag site, does not do it.

Pac is right, Gorres needs to hone his skills a little bit more, he needs more combination and counter-attack skills to compensate for his lack of power. Montiel was a tough champ with power shots.

Well, that aint so bad after-all. Was that Gorres first fight in 12 rounds? He did slowed up after rd 10.

I just finished watching this fight. It was a very good fight and a very competitive fight. It was very technical, but exciting at the same time (the passionate crowd also helped).

I had it 6 rounds each. I think round 10 deserved to be 10-8. Montiel clearly hurt Gorres pretty bad and Gorres tried holding but fell and crumbled in the process of holding and layed on the ground like a hurt man. I think it should have been 10-8 for a knockdown not holding. But either way, it was 10-8. I think the deduction in round 12 was ******, although he did warn Gorres if you watch closely (I read people saying he wasnt warned). With that being said, I had it 6 rounds a peice and a 10-8 round for Montiel, therefore I had Montiel winning the fight.

I could why someone might have the fight in favor of Gorres anywhere from 8 rounds to 4 or 7 rounds to 5. I could also see why someone might have the fight in favor of Montiel the same way. Or why someone might have it a draw.

It was a very competitive fight that could have gone either way. Far from a robbery like i have heard. I think that Montiel deserved the decision and the right man won.

I also think Montiel didnt look 100% at all in there, i dont know what was wrong but hes better than that. Gorres also proved that hes a world class fighter and will be a threat to anyone in that division in my opinion.
