Montiel v Gorres?!?!

I watched the fight again.
Gorrez won: 1,2,4,5,7,8,9
Montiel won: 2,6, 10,11,12
On the 10th round, the ref should jut gave a warning for the clinching by Gorrez. I have seen fights where there is a lot more clinching and it took 3-5 warnings before the ref deducted points.
The scorecard: If the 10th round was just a warning, then the score is 114-113 for Gorres. But with the point deductions(both 10th and 12th) then its 113-113, a draw.

If they fought in La...Montiel would win every round...Gorres is the john ruiz of flyweights...he holds like his wife isn't giving him some...at one point he almost pushed Montiel through the ropes....I think people are giving gorres more credit than he deserves because he fought better than what people expected...luckily 2 unbias judges did their job....Comment

One thing I noticed in those articles was that they were saying how it was an UNBELIVABLE decision for Montiel to win but yet they press scored the fight 114-112!?!?!?!
Obviously if even the press scored the fight that close than I'm sure that it can swing either way without being an UNBELIVABLE decision.
Still gotta watch the fight though before I jump to any conclusions.
Of course that was an unbelievable loss for Gorrez. Yeah I also scored the fight 114-112 but it's for Gorrez not for Montiel and that was after the two points deduction.
Watch the fight first and see it for yourself. The fighters faces after the fight won't lie. Montiel's face was all messed up considerering he (Gorrez) doesn't have power. And what will that tell you? The worst that could have happened is a draw 114 -114 after the deduction.

Montiel hurt Gorrez really bad once in the eight and Gorrez clinch and try to survive, that was Montiel's only moment in the whole fight.Last edited by psychopath; 02-25-2007, 07:03 PM.Comment
