They are just good friends. Probably just calls him a cousin since they are close. But there is no blood relationship at all.

I have articles upon articles saying they are cousins. I have heard both men refer to each other as cousins...why is it that some of you persist in believing they aren't? Can you show me some article that led you to believe this? Everything I have read has said they are cousins, I've heard themselves say they are cousins, and I have heard commentators refer to them as cousins.

......I gained some respect for Brock in the Wlad fight and lost some building respect for Ibragimov in the Austin fight. This is a fight that interests me more than a little bit. I give Brock tons of credit for stepping back into the ring so soon after that devastating Wlad loss.

They are not related. I cant show you proof, but I know they are not. I thought for awhile they were cousins also, but I recently found out the truth.

How did you find out the "truth"? I have facts suggesting they are cousins..including their own words. I can dredge up other interviews where they both say they are cousins. Can you please explain to me how you know they aren't related?

It turns out that Timor, 32, who fought for Uzebkistan in 1986 Olympics as a light heavyweight, was never a brother, cousin or fifth cousin of the lefthanded Sultan.

It has been widely and various reported that the two Iggys were kin. Just recently, an Internet fight scribe interview Timor and asked him, if like real brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, he would hesitate to fight Sultan, relatively speaking. Timor answered with some Uzbek mumbo-jumbo which is not to be confused with cold borscht.

"The only thing they share is the same last name," a source said. "The promoters said they were cousins for promotional purposes but it was never true. They thought the association with Sultan would give Timor a push in the business. They do not have the same blood...in or out of the ring."

Sultan, age 31, is scheduled to fight Tom Atocan in the Garden March 10 as batting practice for his WBO title try against champ Shannon Briggs which may be reset for May. Sultan comes from Russia where, I am sure, he has some genuine cousins.

So chalk up The Tale Of The Two Iggys as another bogus boxing relative story right alongside Cliff Couser being Mike Tyson's half-brother and former Tyson adviser Jackie Whateverhernamewas claiming to be Iron Mike's "sister." Jackie is a sister in the sense of being a soul sista, however.

I can see Brock taking this fight if he comes in mentally prepared. Sultan is nothing special, and many felt he lost to Ray Austin - whom we will all see is a bum on March 10.

For now I'm going to believe HBO and these other articles over that one source that says they aren't cousins, but at least it's an article to lend credence to the other argument.

It was said on Fox Sports when Ibragimov fought last week that they aint related at all.
