    Back to WRIGHT-VARGAS:

And LAMPLEY was interviewed after the fight and he said he thought WINKY easily dominated the first 8 or 9 rounds. How does that result in a loss?

SUre vargas was throwing a lot of punches, but the ones he landed were hard body blows that were partially blocked by the elbows. Winky controlled the fight from round 1 on, even if he did lost the last 3 or 4 rounds.

And lets not forget, as many fights as WINKY had under his belt, he was NEVER at his best when he fought WORLD CLASS COMPETITION before he fougth VARGAS, and he only fought WORLD CLASS COMPETITION once or twice.

Vargas was easily the strongest and most talented opponent WRIGHT had ever fought up until that fight. They gave it to Vargas because every judge is so nervous that they are gonna wrongly break a fighters undefeated streak.
As to the Tarver fight, I score the fight as i see it not as how the commentators see it or think they see it. I didn't give rounds to Hopkins when he was running around the ring or hugging Tarver, you did but i didn't.

Winky had the experiance of being at the World Class level already, he must have learned a TON from his fight with Vasquez that he changed his whole style. He was fighting in people back yard in europe, being treated as a super star in europe, thats World Class, he beat a very tough and good prime Bronco McKart before Vargas, so don't act like Winky doesn't have all this experiance over Vargas. Vargas again only 21, to Wikys 28, Vargas only had 17 fights the Winky fight being the first fight that went the whole distance, before that Vargas was stopping everybody. Plain and simple, Vargas was the better fighter even though he was the younger, less experianced fighter. Winky is over rated and a huge **** talker.

Winky is a tough fighter, he may not be the toughtest fighter out there but he is very tough. The Vargas fight was close Vargas pulled it out at the end, Taylor beat Winky or else Winky would take the rematch but he don't want to go through another brutal fight with Taylor, with days or recorvery. And lets remember Vargas was just starting out, only had 17 fights when he faced the Veteran in Winky! Vargas was what 21 years old!, while Winky had all this world class experiance and still couldn't beat Vargas shows you how great Vargas was at an early age and he handled Quartey easier way easier then Winky did. Even Merchant that Vargas won and so did Lamply and the compu number proved Vargas won.

I agree bud. I had him losing by a point in the Taylor fight. But No way was the Tarver fight a draw, it was ALL Hopkins! Tarver didnt show up, weight drained to **** and mentally weak! But ur above post i agree with

lmao whoever scored hopkins/tarver a draw needs to be silenced so they don't further insult the integrity of this board. that's just awful.

Man, Bernard needs to retire!! And Wink should do it for him on 7/21, why he won't fight Roy, 60-40 is a good deal. This fight will be boring and oldman bernard won't be able to keep up.

How can u call winky OVER-RATED when half the guys critisize his style and his inablility to stop fighters that hes dominated for 12 rounds???

ANd in my post, i specifically said that Wright fought at the WORLD CLASS LEVEL maybe twice, one obviously being vasquez... and the other being mckart or simon i guess... BOTH of which were when he was very inexperienced or raw.

Vargas lost to Wright, so how was he the better fight? Wright got robbed. And even if u thought Vargas won, WRight still dominated Vargas for many of the early rounds. Absolutely shut down Vargas's nonstop powerful offense. Thats no easy task for any fighter

You and other point out that winky is a brillent boxer, when? His biggest win Trinidad faded old Trinidad. The Taylor fight credit, he was very competitive but he lost a close decicion.

Winky struggled with a YOUNG Vargas, enough said. So if Winky was RAW, Vargas was even RAWER!!!!
