The truth is most major events take place in the U.S. because this is one of the richest countries in the world. The U.S. dollar is worth more than almost any other currency which means more money. They get more revenue out of the fights this way. Also, our copyright laws and all protect the PPV buys earned where in other countries they broadcast PPV for free which is another loss of revenue. It's all business, the U.S. brings more money.Comment

I'm not questioning the basic point of there being a lot of money in the US, but this part isn't correct. You can get 1.6 - 1.7 dollars for a pound.
Anyway, regardless of where the money is or isn't, for FUTURE GENERATIONS, should those markets be developed? I'm thinking mainly that a heavyweight title bout between two Eastern Europeans would have more interest in Russia, for example.Comment

I remember being taught in elementary school that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world. They teach that **** in the schools here. I apologize for that.
Regarding Annie's suggestion:
Yes these fights have to be in Eastern Europe!! I can't wait for a Valuev-Klitschko fight in Moscow. That would be huge. If I weren't broke as **** I'd fly to such an event, a chance to see a new place yet have it organmized around a boxing match.Comment

See, it might not be huge NOW (relatively), but if they developed these foreign markets. It's no good saying "But the US is the mecca of boxing" because there are going to be some fights (like a heavyweight unficiation bout between two heavies from former soviet states) where the overall audience might not give as much of a ****.I remember being taught in elementary school that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world. That part is correct, England is just one of the few that aren't. But thats not the point.
Fact of the matter is, generally its the champions that chose where to fight right? So maybe you should be asking the fighters why they are fighting here. Not Americans fault that most of them are choosing this place.Comment
