Kids are ****ing dumb these days. No one in the elementary school class I subbed had heard of the Doors or the Rolling Stones. Even if you'd never heard them at that age, you should at least know the names. I mean that means their parents likely don't even listen to those bands, which is upsetting and ******.

Kids these days listen to **** like the song Fergalicious. Computer ****ing generated sounds, not even real instruments. ****ed up.

And do you know how ****ing creepy and unsettling it is to hear 4th grade girls singing that song? That ain't nothing I wanna hear coming outta anyone under 17's mouth.

I don't even wanna bring up boxing in class. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know Ali or even someone like Holyfield The kids all love wrestling and John Cena. I didn't even know who this Cena guy was until I started subbing. From kindergarten to 12th grade, everyone knows about him. I bet even the highschoolers think he'd take a prime Tyson in a fight.

If a champ emerges in the next six or eight months (let's not argue the boxing in this thread), the promoters need to get ESPN and 60 Minutes to run specials. Shouldn't 60 Minutes have already done a special on the Klitschkos and their charity work? That would have appealed to a certain adult demographic that does not mainly watch fights. ESPN can reach the kids.

....There is a huge story there with the Klits and I can't believe it hasn't been jumped on by mainstream media. The whole brotherly connection, the charity work, the domination of the heavies, etc. etc. It's a great story that ends with them coming to America and becoming household names if they ever ****ing played it out. If the Corrie Sanders incident never took place then it probably would have happened.

i dont think this is any kind of deal

a lot of people dont have more than a passing interest in sport(s)

people who dont know who wlad and vitali are also probably couldnt tell you much about anyone but the biggest stars...

people love dwayne wade of the miam heat, but not many of them know where he went to school

most people wouldnt know the names of many people in the non-major sports

how many responses would you get if you threw out some names like....

Sanders gave Wlad an angle with the public. He had a fall and he's gotten up. He'll never be Muhammed Ali but he's got all kinds of angles. I stay in bed a few extra minutes in the morning sometimes to listen to NPR, and it struck me that they should be doing a special on the Klits. That way I'd have the other snobs at Starbuck's Sunday mornings (I mean ones other than me) asking me if I'd heard of these Ukranian guys.

I don't understand the 'no charisma' complaint. I mean he's not hip-hop, but he has more charisma in a certain sense than Tyson could dream of. Wlad is a smart ****er, and I mean K-Dogg smart. He speaks a half-dozen languages (better German than most any non-German - hab' ich Recht, Zerwas?), hee's educated, politically aware, etc.,. Maybe his English is a too Slavic, but he should be doing card tricks on Letterman and the Tonight Show.

I don't care really, so long as HBO shows the fights, but the obscurity of our little boxing world doesn't make sense to me.

Wlad is a good looking guy too. There was an exchange student from Russia I was tutoring in the high school a few weeks ago and when I askd her about Wlad, she said "oh I know him, he's so hot!"

The girls really dig him. Problem is, no one's seen him here. He needs to appear in a movie or something.

LOL Wake Forest??? No, he went to Marquette and lost to my Louisville Cardinals. Actually went 1-1 with us in his last year. I have awesome youtube clips of those games.

It wouldn't matter if they looked like a young Cary Grant, people are just not going to buy the Klitschko's personalities. There would only be a wider audience if they made a few front page headlines rather then the back ones. There's just nothing there to really get excited about.
