As far as I'm aware he was saying that he would move up for the big fights. Cotto and Maywhether being the two big fights around that weight.

Course he will fight them. He may or may not win, but he will fight them.

I think at this point there is no doubt that Hatton would fight Mayweather. He wants that fight after Castillo, regardless if Mayweather beats De La Hoya, but he admitted that he will be rooting for Mayweather to win the fight.

I hope you're right & Mayweather still has him on his radar because Mayweather was quoted saying that he was moving on. It would be a shame if this fight didn't happen.

-In various interviews he's said Floyd is the best fighter in the world P4P and that would be a dream fight for him.

-After the Baldomir fight, he said Floyd looked like Russell Crowe but fought like Sheryl Crow.

-In his post fight interview after the Urango fight, Hatton said he wanted to fight in Vegas because all the greats have fought there. The first great he names? Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

-At the post fight press conference, he says Mayweather-DLH will be a boring fight and people should watch Hatton-Castillo for an exciting fight. Last time I checked, these fights aren't even competing with each other. They are a month apart. What is the point of even bringing up Mayweather-DLH? Is Hatton Mayweather's publicist?

The obsession is clear, but the reason is not. Why the hell does Hatton keep bringing up Mayweather's name? At first you would think it's to try and score a fight with him, but Hatton has clearly been ducking him for over 2 years and it was written into Hatton's contract with HBO that he would not have to face Mayweather. So it definetely can't be because Hatton wants to fight him. Anyone have any idea why Hatton is obsessed with Mayweather?

why are you obsessed with mayweather?

Compared to Hatton's one fighter who was 35 and had one foot out the door already?

Is it really that impressive to be supposedly the top P4P fighter in the world and only have had 2 credible names on his fight resume? Compared to just 1?

Both Hatton and PBF need to hugely improve their resumes if they want to be considered all time greats. Which they are both now taking steps to do, but still...you can only fight what is out there.

Hatton knows it's thee biggest fight in boxing to be made, possibly ever when you think about it - two young, undefeated champions with incredibly contrasting styles both in and out of the ring.

If Mayweather beats the one guy who has been a bigger draw than Hatton in the last five years, and Hatton beats the one guy who has ran Mayweather close, it sets it up bigtime for later in the year. Then it will be even bigger than if they met after Tszyu and Gatti.

Oh and Hatton at his best doesn't lose on points to anybody.

And Hatton truly does believe he beats Mayweather.

I know they all lie and bull****, so why should you believe that Hatton actually wants the Mayweather fight or Cotto for that matter? His actions have shown he doesn't want those fights...

If I were Hatton, I'd have not taken Collazo onto a rematch unless it was contractually designated or 'demanded' by the networks, neither of which were the case, so why take up a dangerous offer that isnt very lucrative? Hatton is a boxer, not an idiot.
If that's the case, he shouldn't have fought him to begin with. No one demanded the fight. Secondly, don't say you're going to man up and give the guy an immediate rematch when he obviously didn't intend to...

If I were Hatton, I would be doing everything I could to be getting the likes of PBF in career defining fights. I'd be fighting someone like Castillo and offering to move up a weight-class and mentioning PBF's name wherever possible (though I'd probably not do it with as much class as Hatton tends to). Again, it would be ****** to increase your likelihood of defeat by wanting to jump straight up two weight classes and dive into the ring ill-prepaired with the King of that division. Hatton isnt ******.
Hatton could have stayed at 147 to get his body ready for that division if he really intended to fight Mayweather or any of the other top fighters at 147. His next fight would have been against Urkal, which would have been a good tune up fight and he would have had adequate time to prepare himself. Going back to 140 was just an admission that he couldn't compete with the best that division offers. Hatton would only go back to 147 for a huge payday. I'm sure he'll ask for 15 million to face Mayweather or Cotto...

Put aside your anti-Hatton prejudice for a moment and consider. If you were a boxer at the same stage in the career as Hatton is...wouldnt you be doing the same?
All Hatton has been doing is handpicking fighters his entire career. He caught Tsyzu at the end of his career, coming off a long layoff, and a major injury. He of course targetted Maussa since he was a very weak titleholder coming off a huge upset. Urango was another weak beltholder coming off a gift decision. If I wanted any respect, I wouldn't be making these choices...

You'd be fighting the likes of Cotto and Maywhether...which Hatton will be doing. Anyone with much sense realises that big fights in that division over the next couple of years are going to involve Hatton, Cotto and Maywhether (providing they all get through their next 'set-up' fights). To believe that Hatton is going to defeat Castillo (all being well) and then not move onto bigger fights at this stage in his career, is just a bit ignorant.

The journey is not the important thing, its the fact that you get those defining fights that matters.

Hatton has had 42 fights and he's been pro about 10 years. We're still waiting...
